A year or so ago I went out one Saturday to get some new tires. While getting the tires I went to TRU across the street to kill time. Well, I got there 20 minutes before they opened. I talked to this women who said she was there to search for Hot Wheels. I was like, "Me too." Well, her son sent her down there with a list of desirable hot wheels and t-hunts. Now I collect what I like and I don't really care about t-hunts all that much but I do have something against ebayers sending their Moms out to do their dirty work. His Mom isn't a collector. He isn't even a collector. I found this out after talking with her for a few minutes. It made me wonder how much of that is going on all around. It's like someone with lactose intolerance going around to Wendy's and buying up all the Frostys. As I said before on another blog, as long as they, meaning HW, MB, and other toy manufacturers, make 1.5 million models of the same casting in 10 different colors, who cares? The little cars we covet will never be worth much. They can't all be pink rear loading Beach Bombs. Collecting was more fun before ebay. :freak:

I agree and dis-agree. Though e-bay is a pleasure to have, it can also be amounted in dis-pleasure.

How did you know her son was an e-bayer BTW? Couldn't she just be a mother who is shopping for her collector-son?

I also disagree and agree with your statement. i have not found a TH but I have nothing against other people who shop for HW/s

Like I said, this is why I just collect what I want and not worry about what others do or don't do. I was just having some fun and I do not really care for people who buy Hot Wheels just to sell them on ebay. It would be nice to go into a TRU or a Walmart and find something once in while that is unique instead of all the picked through garbage. I guess my point is that if it were not for ebay, maybe some people would find a TH once in a while for .99 or whatever.

It is very unlikely that the mom would find anything worth reselling.

As for eBay, it is a fatastic tool to buy what I like in case I didn't find it myself. It is also a great venue to sell what I find or don't want anymore. Trading is such a tremendous waste of time.

Find it, sell it. Need it, buy it. Done!

If EBAY is used right it is helpful, yes, but it can also be deceiving

It also annoys the heck out of me when someone (like a scalper, I have no problem with door-warmers...so what? They were there first) takes cars illegally (again, like a scalper) and then immediately sells them on the bay. Other than that I don't really have a problem with it.

It is pretty low to send in YOUR MOM - and sound like it's not the first time - to do your shopping for little cars, scalper or not.

I may have lost your train of thought. What is it that is done illegally?

I agree all the way... To me, ebay sucks because of all the fees, dingbats ya run across, and I have been ripped off a few times... Those SCALPERS as I call them sure put a hurting on the collectors who collect for fun... I too, don't care anything about the value of any of my cars or have no special interest in the Treasure Hunts or the JL White Lightnings... To be honst with ya, I think they look pretty stupid with white tires...
The last toy show here in Columbus, I did see a couple of dudes walking around with their little price guides checking out the HWs pretty close as they holding up the lines and ticking other guys off...
It's about fun and enjoyment and I do not recpect anyone whos tries to take advantage of another true collector !!! I have a serious love for this hobby and have been at it for a long, long time !!!

My opinion is that there shouldnt be TH's cause they ruin some collectors hobbies. If HW was more like MB. Well there are both PROS and Cons to this..

That's not only what they do... They buy up every one in sight or have a store employee where ever diecast cars are sold call them when the new cases come in and they go through them to pick out all the THs or WLs or new castings before they even hit the shelves... Then they stick them on ebay asking 10 bucks or more... Pure rip-offs !!!

Thats evil and unfair to the general public collectors. Im okay with morning people, who go to TRU and such but scalpers.......If Chase stuff didnt exist, scalpers wouldnt either.
