Are there any performance differences between novak gtb and the sphere comp? Has anyone tried both and found any speed differences? Thanks in advance for any help.

I own both. I have not noticed any differences in performance.

Novak has better customer service.

I think the LRP prefer's 6 cell operation. I had trouble with it in a 4 cell application. Probably not enough volts. Not positive though.

Ok thanks.
I am trying to get into brushless as cheaply as possible, and I have some Q2's at LRP for repair, and they will swap them with sphere's... Just wanted to make sure they are as good as the GTB everybody seems to be running.

I also have both. I have not seen a difference in performance at all. I prefer the LRP Sphere because

1. You can run the battery tray further back before hitting the tire.
2. The cap is much smaller and can be taped to the top of the ESC, the Novak cap is kind of a pain to mount.
3. The LRP comes with wire that is suitable for racing, the Novak factory wire is very small.

Just my opinion. (It's all good!)

...I've run my LRP in both 4 cell and LIPO mode...it works great.

I've got both LRP and NOVAK units, and both perform very well. The LRP Cap is smaller, but I haven't had any problems with the larger one either.

I have a Sphere, a Comp 07, and a GTB and I can't really see a difference in performance. I like the Comp cause of smaller cap, and right size wires. Had to change wires on the GTB. I believe the comp is lighter too. Only had one shut down issue with the old Sphere. (turn switch off and back on) Never thermaled. Use it as a back-up. Novak does have alot better service record!

I just figured out you can advance the timing with the LRP sphere, I wasn't aware of that. Is there any benefit to this?

How do you advance the timing on the sphere?

I believe you can only adjust the timing on the sphere comp TC spec only not the reg sphere

I have no idea. Someone just told me I could...it's in the directions I guess. I'll look when I get home.

sphere tc with the fan you can.

both are awesome speedos

if you ever plan to run brushed with the esc than the lrp is so damn easy to switch it over.

novak customer service is wayyyyyyyyyyyy better. my sphere 06 died and it took a act of god to get it back from them . 5 months turn around!

the sphere tc is now the hot ticket with the fan and timming advance option.

the tekin esc is realy less than 2 or 3 weeks away. it is smaller than both lrp and novaks speedo. customer service should be on par with novaks!

i use my 06 and 07 spheres with 4 cell with 0 issues...

From what I understand, Jamie Hanson won the race #1 of the BRL in 10.5 and 13.5 with a Novak GTB, so I think that puts the LRP timing theory to rest. I'm glad it appears that is just hype...there is no advantage with the LRP.

the only advantage is found in the car!
