Hey Guys, At the risk of being abused and charged as well I would like to ask two more questions please......... 1- A couple of tips on body masking. I can do simple masking pretty well, pretty clean lines and no over spray/ leakage. But i'd like to know about bringing it up a level. 2- And triming the ends of decal stripes for a clean look. If there is a line in the body i use that with a sharp exacto but what should i use if it is the money end in a visable spot? Thanks in advance for your sage advice. Let me know how much I owe and i will send my (sorry its post dated) personal check from my Nigerian bank account. Don't worry its good. You can abuse if you like cause i've seen work here that i can only aspire to touch ........some day. So it will be worth it. My only trump card is that guys love to impress each other with their depth of knowledge, I'm banking on that. thx. mj

You can do a few things to get clean lines.. One is use paint masks, prebought or make your own then just pull them back off.. Or baremetal foil will give a great crisp line with no leakage, but be carefull removing it I tend to press it on too tight and wind up nicking a spot or two getting it back off...thats 30 bucks...

I've tried liquid mask with some success and some screwups......... I'll probably get better at it. But it can be good. mj

There are two types of paint masks that I know of, I am sure there are more.. One is a decal ussually sold with decal kits for painting and leaving flames etc.. the second is like a tape.. I have used painters tape for a long time to do straight lines and cuts. just have to make sure you really press it down and the layer under it is cured or you get dreaded lift-off ( I did that today on a stang for Rogers mail in race DOH!)..as with everything in Ho it takes a bit of practice and it ges easier I class myself a nil skill guy and I get some pretty nice results, which Joe ussually convinces me would be better at his house lol...

also an old trick is to lay down some clear coat on the tape where you are worried it will fill in the areas where the paint might seap through and give you a clean finish. You will be able to see the clear until you give it the final coats
