What in the......is that a re-issue or something? Must be,'cause I thought the Blue Shark
was #69, wasn't it? Plus that don't look like a REAL Streaker!
Interesting!

It is part of the NSF series. I sent both versions to Michael Heralda at Mattel and he used both of the original ones to pattern these after. You are correct that this was number 61 released in 1972. They did an excellent job in recreating this model.

I just found one with the scorpion yesterday on the pegs at WM.
It's the only one I've ever seen. I guess I'll have to watch out for the other variation.

Interesting that a Hobby-Talker had something to do with this.
Thanks for your input.
Going from memory it almost looks like they used the origional mold.
A close look at the wheels are about the only thing that gives it away.

Obviously you have a connection to Mattel, do you work in the field somehow?

I would like to invite you to MCCH: http://www.mboxcommunity.com/index.html
There you can learn a lot from and about Jim Gallegos. He is the past Ambassador V2 to Matchbox. Yes, he is on first name basis with all of the Matchbox Design Team as well. Great gentleman too. He is also heavily involved with the GATHERING each year that is held in Abq., NM Come on over and read up on things. I don't know where I spend the most time, here or there...olesarge90/Gill
