IRS October Oval Open 10-20-07 Thunderroad RC Speedway, Gordonsville, VA

http://www.thunderroadrc.com/

Friday Evening 10-19-07: Open Practice
Saturday 10-20-07: IRS October Oval Open
Sunday 10-21-07: IRS SPECtacular (oval spec racing only)

Thought I would start a thread for this race since it is almost here and the info was burried in some older posts. Who's coming? Looks like 13.5 and 10.5 will have some good racing. Mark it on your calendars. With the future of this track still up in the air, lets come out and give Ernie our support. Sunday will be the IRS SPECtacular for Spec Nastrucks and SK's. Ernie can fill in any scheduling changes and the times.

I'm in for 13.5!!!

Thanks

I dont think Ernie will have any problem with you guys running stock. I think one of the local guys "Oliver" will probably run stock. So that will make 4 or 5 in stock, sounds like a good heat to me! See you in a few weeks

Guys;

Sorry, I've been scrambling with some other things. Thanks for jumping on this for me. Here's the game plan.

Saturday will be a big race; $500.00 in merchandise certificates up for grabs. IRS is sponsoring this event, so expect some tough competition. We'll run all Oval Classes, including Spec. I expect a good turnout in Spec NasTruck, Stock, 4300/10.5 and 13.5/4-cell. The owner is planning on running Stock, BTW.

Sunday will be a special event; all Spec, all day. Spec NasTruck and Spec (Trinity Street) motored and (Trinity 1600) batteried SKs. This will be a "fun" event; reduced entry fees and a different race format. The basic idea is to do something special for the Spec drivers. Thanks; Ernie P.

Friday, October 19: Practice
Open 12:00 AM (Thats noon, if you that didn't pay attention in school) (-:

Saturday, October 20: Oval IRS October Open
Open 9:00 AM; Race 2:00 PM

Sunday, October 21: Oval IRS SPECtacular
Open 10:00 AM; Race 3:00 PM

Sorry, jman91; I wasn't thinking about the last time you and Dave tried to get around Thunder Road. <g> Okay, we'll open at noon on Friday. That will give you two around twelve hours to practice on Friday; figure five hours practice on Saturday; race for maybe seven or eight hours; total run time around 24 hours... Hmmm.... Tell you what; maybe you can come by on Sunday, when we're running the IRS SPECtacular. By then, you and Dave will be out of spares for whatever you brought; so I'll loan you a Spec NasTruck or two to run. <BSEG>

I'm looking forward to seeing you guys again. And you know me; anything for the racers. Thanks; Ernie P.

For the IRS Open on Saturday, the entry fee will be $30.00 for the first Class; $15.00 for the second; $5.00 for a third. $500.00 in merchandise awards up for grabs!

For the IRS SPECtacular on Sunday, as a gift to all the SPEC and SK Spec drivers out there, entry will be $10.00 for the first Class, $5.00 for the second. This will be a "fun" event; just to have a good time. We can still do that, right? Thanks; Ernie P.

Less than a week to go! Don't forget not only do we have the IRS race on Saturday but there is a special Spec race scheduled Sunday! This might be your last chance to run a big race at Thunder Road as it will be forced to close Nov 18th.

For anyone up North looking for a good place to get set up for the Oval Masters this is the place! Should be a good field of spec, stock, 13.5, and 10.5 by the sounds of things.

Count me in for 13.5 and 10.5.

We are trying to find you something in the area Toby. Not sure what the heck is going on in the area on Friday night, but it seems like its booked up. UVA is in MD, so that is not it. I will keep looking for something and keep you posted. BTW it has been posted on the Thunder Road site as well

Looks like this place has availability. I dont know anything about the hotel, but the reviews said it was clean, old but clean. It is about 30 min from the track, and is about 80 bucks a night unless you have AAA/AARP/government or military then it is about 70 bucks per night. I will keep looking for other, but this is a good start.

Red Carpet Inn is one of the biggest DIVES I've ever stayed at and I'm not very picky. Ask Jamie Hansen if you don't believe me. Just a heads up.

Okay, guys; time to find out who's holding the face cards. I just got in from the track; and will be heading out to unlock the doors at 9:00 AM. Those who weren't there tonight missed some tuning time. You may wish you'd tried some tweaks, because tomorrow will be fast. Racing will commence at 2:00 PM. Thanks; Ernie P.

Man I had a blast down there Saturday. Just wish more were running stock. The best part was having the car so driveable it almost felt slow. Hope there's at least one more "big" race at thunder road before the end comes..............................I also hope that maybe just maybe thunder road returns at a new location since there are folks there I'de miss racing with when I get the chance. That and Ernie P is one heck of a track owner!!!!

Had a great time (as always) at Thunder Road this weekend! Some super close racing.

Joel,
Looks like you brought that extra lightsaber with you. lol... If I wouldn't have taken off on the tone like my grandmother going to bingo it might have been a different story. I was worried about getting into Jerry if I jumped and then boom out of no where comes Joel flying by. lol.. That was one heck of a race buddy.
