Well I threw a few together over the weekend, they look great! I was upset that the Bud's h.o. slicks I use for T-jets rubbed badly. I took the aurora wheels of and filed the backs down till they were about 1/3 the original thickness of the flange and then they fit. Anyone find a good tire that fits with out the bs? the old T-jet tires just don't cut it. I love these tires the cars still slide out but they grip real well on the straights.

I use to leave the regular stock tjet tires on, put a tiny bit of 100% ge silicone on my fingers, run the car tires through it a few times and lay upside down to dry.
It's not the same as a pure silicone tire, but helps tremendously.

Agreed T-jet, most all of the original Fords are a beeyach for tire upgrades. Sounds like Dashes version is a true representation! LOL.

So far I've had pretty good luck with Penn Valley tires, Weird Jacks, and get this!... believe it or not, the old AW blunderjet front tire with the wide rib spacing is a darn good skinny tire. You can spot them right away cuz the rib pattern is helical rather than radiating straight out from the hub center

Sometimes you still see them in the blue and yellow packaged hop up kits. They tuck up perfect in the skinny waisted Fords and really perform VERY good. Great grip and just the right amount of give.

Naturally ya got to true the buggers up, but it really did the trick on my T-birds Falcons and Galaxies.

Wired Jack makes thin silicone t-jet tires for just such an emergency.

Bill,

Do you mean these. Yikes the one on the left needs some work.

Thanks for the heads up on the skinney. I have some more of these things laying around. No wonder these were so cheap on Paybay last year.

Yup Bob, Those are the ones. Every one I've ever seen has the chunk syndrome, but unlike the repop AFX "Good Year" fronts, these will usually true up just fine.

LOL, dunno 'bout those particular exanples though. Pretty gnarled...or did ya just have yer camera set on "gruesome".

You are right about the Johnny lightning tires they have good grip, I think they are a good rubber. I have used them in the past on some nos aurora chassis they are good but like you said they are in need of a trueing

Cool T-jet!

The only beef I have with them is that the ribs dont match the original ribs. Unless you chage all four...and then still they arent an exact duplicate.

Just nit picky collecter carp, but ya cant argue with the performance.
