Looking to have a BIG sprint car race at MPR in 2008 with 50% payback and possibly 1,2,3, trophies. Around the end of May, so start the hoopla now and tell everyone you know that has a sprinter, I even have 2 of them now!! I would like to see the Iowa boys even come to race.
If you want to come email me to tell me for sure and that way we will plan on the big one at MPR also will contact MFG's for some giveaways to sprinter racers :woohoo:

I have been wanting to get back to MPR since the sprint car extravaganza show two or three years ago but things just haven't worked out. I think April or May work best for us as long as you schedule around the Cornbelt Series which is our main schedule. I loved the race track last time we were there and who knows maybe this time I won't get a glitch warming up for the feature and turn some laps in the main.

Fred, you are correct about tying the chain to Randy's car, he is insanely fast at MPR from what I saw and the results I see from time to time.

Anytime is fine with me Dave . I know you're trying to work around every club and series schedule . Seems like the only open days are on a holiday weekend and everybody stays away from those . Personally I wouldn't mind racing on one of those weekends because you still have Sunday and Monday off for travel or home ( family ) time . Or maybe combine with one of your special races , Anderson - Hargrave Memorial or the Midwest Nats . Jus a couple of thoughts .
With your regular guys , the group from Iowa , a few from Minn. , there's three or four in the Indy club , the group that run over in Eastern Ohio , there's a couple out of the Carolinas , possibly a couple three from Texas that like the travel deal , Fred ,Mike and I and maybe even the Mayor , this race could have the possibility of a big turn out . Figure out a date so everybody can start planning for it and Fred , Mike and I can start working on this end . Do you still want me to write up a list of possibles ?
Now about this chain idea , better bring a whip . OOH ,that's another subject altogether , whips and chains . Dam , Survival time , gotta head for work , Talk with ya later

Randy I just want a BIG turnout and not this 10 car field, you sprinter boys need your day in the sun, maybe a big lap race like 150 with a break at 75, for fuel and tires then bring them back out for the final 75

Or a Double Feature event; similar to what you described above, but having two separate winners and then an overall winner?

Thinking along the lines of both Dave's and Joe's ideas , depending on the size of the field , after the qualifying rounds , split the field into two 75 lap mains . Top five from each main go into the final 75 lap main , pill draw those ten for starting positions , overall finishing position will be determined by the point system used for the qualifiying rounds , Tie breaker being the final pill draw or time set in single car qualifying if done at the beginning .

Randy I like that theme, top 5 from both mains. It looks like it will be a great time if everyone agrees to that format, you will definetly get your moneys worth of racin that day, or better have alot of parts on hand

Hey Lance haven't heard from ya in awhile . You'd really like this track for sprinters . Had a couple more thoughts about how to set up the two 75 qualifying mains to get to the final main . After the qualifying rounds , there is two possible solutions . First being , set up the starting positions like the qualifiers are set up but by final qualifying positions .

1st Main : TQ , 3rd , 5th , 7th , 9th ....
2nd Main : 2nd , 4th , 6th , 8th , 10th ...

or , Second , this might make it interesting , just split the field after the qualifying rounds , the top half go to the first main and the second half go to the second main . Either which way of the above , the top five from each main make it to the final 75 lap main with a pill draw for starting positions . Depending on how many entries there are , the amount of cars in each qualifier could be spread out some and the number of laps run reduced , like maybe 20 . Just a couple thoughts . It's your rodeo Dave , however ya want it . Pick a day and they will come .

I will one day, but it ain't in the cards for the next 6 months for sure. My wife works at Chrysler and I work at Ford. Until they get stable, the only thing I'm going to slap is my saving account (LOL).

Hey Larry , is the Knoxville race considered in the Corn Belt series ? That's the only one I can honestly say I'll make in 08 . Not trying to imply that I'm gonna win the race in Machesney but I wouldn't mind going for the extra $25 and the Knoxville race is in August after this race .

Dave , maybe an advertisement of this race could be put on the QSAC home page and the Starting Grid too . Anything to help promote it . Just a thought .

Since the Knoxville race is, to my knowledge, not officially a "GO" yet....I'll give the $25 to the winner if they had ran a Cornbelt Sprint Car event in 2007 or 2008. Just trying to give a few guys an incentive to run the Cornbelt series.

Larry: If they move the cornbelt series a bit further east (actully a lot further east) I know a couple of guys that will run it.

I feel your pain....a good portion of the Cornbelt schedule is close to 250 - 300 miles for me.

I am just checking so I have time to make a purchase if it is required. Will we be required to run personal transponders for this race. I currently don't own one but I will buy one if it is my only choice for Machesny Park.

Thanks

yes we run personal transponders, do you have a newer style amb system with the red case transponders? if so they will have a long #on them and they will also work, but you know they will have to be charged like normal
