View Full Version : Micro Scalextric hit the States docsho 10-08-2007, 09:38 AM Just happen to stop in at TRU in Appleton, WI. and stummbled upon the Transformer set snuggled in with a couple new LL sets. Between that and the 1/43rd SCX which I hear is available at Target, could they actually be trying to sell here in the states? Wouldn't that be great. Joe grungerockjeepe 10-12-2007, 07:53 PM I saw that here in Portland, too. At $60 Im tempted to grab it, since I grew up on transformers. I even have the original 2 transformers mustangs made by tyco, and recently scored both of the voltron lions on peebay. Those are based on matchbox chassis, but are modded so they can run on any track. The only thing about this set is, the car/robot designs are really not as nice looking as the tycos made in the 80s. But they DO look sturdier and more durable. tjd241 10-13-2007, 08:13 AM What is their track like? Anybody have some HO track from them and can post a pic? Quality, connectability, range of pieces, power system, etc. nd Grandcheapskate 10-19-2007, 10:26 PM A little off topic, but I was in Target tonight and saw two SCX 1/43rd sets. One set had what I think are Honda Civics, while the other larger set had two F1 cars. They also had a couple packages of track. The interesting thing about the F1 set was that it had "Hot Wheels Racing" on the side of the box. I don't know if this is because one of the cars has Hot Wheels decals (doubtful) or if Mattel is distributing the sets here in the US. It doesn't have the look of a Mattel set - the layout is flat and doesn't have any monsters, loops, upside down sections, multi-colored track, jumps or cardboard cutouts. LOL Joe micyou03 10-19-2007, 10:32 PM Here's what the SCX Nascars look like. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/micyou03/2007-08%20Slots/08-03-07SCXCompactNascars04.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/micyou03/2007-08%20Slots/08-03-07SCXCompactNascars07.jpg Crimnick 10-19-2007, 11:30 PM A little off topic, but I was in Target tonight and saw two SCX 1/43rd sets. LOL Joe I noticed the logo on a box as well.....so far I cant find a shred of info on it... Hell...I havent even been able to track down anyone "officially" distributing mattel cars, track , or sets.... I get forwarded to the hot wheels site when trying to find hot wheels "electric racing"... grungerockjeepe 10-22-2007, 02:22 AM I noticed the logo on a box as well.....so far I cant find a shred of info on it... Hell...I havent even been able to track down anyone "officially" distributing mattel cars, track , or sets.... I get forwarded to the hot wheels site when trying to find hot wheels "electric racing"... Yeah, good luck with all that. Mattel has taken a nice lineup and turned it into crap. If they want the x-mas only crowd they already have those big battery powerd sets that everyone else has. They should sell off the tyco name and tooling and let someone else who knows what theyre doing put it out there properly. That being said, I do have a soft spot for some of the novelty sets and movie cars. Doomsday duel is the one that sucked me back into slots back in '00. Whats not to like about mad max looking cars and a big goofy robot swatting at you and you can make his head explode? grungerockjeepe 10-22-2007, 02:25 AM Oh yeah, and with shipping I burned thru a solid bill doing it, but on ebay UK I scored both of the transformers car/robots AND the batman begins cars. All micro scaleys. Boo-yah! And TJD: Since Scalextric essentially bought all the tooling from Marchon once they tanked, Id expect the track to be the same. Dont know much about it though as I only have tyco track anymore. I know many marchon cars need a little slot pin trim not to drag the bottom of the slot when running on lifelike or tyco track, so I imagine it has the deep slot like tomy track. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
