Can you install a threaded steel insert into the head without pulling the head off? 25 year old snowblower 7 HP on Ariens. I installed 3/4 inch reach inserts on car heads before does anyone make one for a Tecumseh 3/8 inch reach long plug? MY long tap bottoms out in cylinder bore - too long to cut full new threads to install a insert it seeems.

I always like to remove the head, but you can put grease around the tap to catch the filings that come off when you cut the new threads for the insert. Blow it out real good with compressed air before running it.
