I did get alot more done in my new playroom this weekend... All the shelves are now permenatly installed and the work desk all enclosed with alot of storage space underneath... A major clean up job was 95% improvement alone... The last wall to be framed and drywalled will be my wall of fame, a place 24 feet by 4 feet 6 inches to hang all my packaged cars... The last pic shows how many of my loose cars will stack up in the shadow boxes... Full it will hold 360 of my loose cars... I hope I can get a couple of my sons over this weekend to help me carry my display cases down from the garage !!!

Wow!
Are you going to be putting any glass over those wall displays? I built similar shelves in my basement, and I installed receptionist windows over them. It costs a bit, but they do a nice job of keeping the dust out.
BTW - What's up with the floor? Slot cars?

Yea, I'm gonna be putting clear plexiglass sliding doors on the inset wall cases... The shadowbox shelves will remain the same, each car on that shelf is in a clear pvc box by it's self... That old rug on the floor is history, my grandsons and I painted the racetrack on it a few years ago to race our 1/64 NASCAR cars around... Had alot of fun with that old rug... I have over 900 loose cars and only built the wall display to hold 360... I'm running out of room already... I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with all my Hot Wheels that I still have in the blisters... They are hanging on a wall in another section of the basement and my wife wants them out of that room... 2 4X8 pieces of 1/4 inch plywood totally covered with about 450 cars... I never realized how much diecast I have collected over the last 40 years... But in this whole process I have found some really cool old stuff I had packed away and completely forgotten about...

Very nice Mustang. I think we all want a toystore in our house where we can get away and look at those sweet paintjobs and the little cars we drooled over as kids. I like your display case. The wall cases are nice too. I do not envy you having to choose favorites. You are an inspiration to us everywhere. Ha-ha! One day I would love o show off my matchboxes and hot wheels.

Very nice displays. I really like the blister carded case idea. Overall I would say you really did alot of planning and it appears to be quite a place to see. Nice work environment.

Looks great! Is that American Grafitti roadster the put together yourself kit? That was a hard one to build.

I'm glad you explained the rug. I thought that table leg was standing on a race track!

VERY NICE ! ! ! I'm jealous. One of the things I enjoy the most about collecting is the creativity that people have when it comes to displaying their collections. I enjoyed putting my Mustang garage together. At times I wish I could do it all over again :D And yes .... I am a bit nuts ! Looking forward to seeing more pictures as you finish it up !
