The final episode of Eureka reeks of it being the final show. Beverly dies, Stark and Allison are back together, Kevin is free of the artifact energy, Carter has a girfrield, and Henry is off to jail. No real cliffhangers. Does anyone know if Eureka is going to a third season?

I read somewhere that Sci-Fi already placed an order for season 3.

I like that there were no cliffhangers.
Maybe next season we will get back to some more fun random eps without a big story arc eating up so much of the season.

I didn't get that Beverly died. Stark only told the General that to appease him

She'll be back. Villians always come back. That was quite the smack down Ally put on her, but in classic stupid behavior, nobody thought to tie her up.

I hope Henry goes away for a while. He turned out to be quite a jerk. Maybe next season will be about Carter and Stark getting along better.

The show did get renewed. It's one of SCi-fi Channel's only ratings getter (besides they own the show outright, so they make more money on it than on show produced by someone else)

No, don't want them to get along better.
One of the fun things with this show is the sparring between the two of them.
I hated Stark in the first season.
But in the second season, his condescending attitude and holier-than-thou approach didn't rub me nearly as wrong.
Maybe because he doesn't have the power to back it anymore.
Maybe because he isn't quite as serious as he used to be.
Either way, he is fun, especially when poking jabs at Carter.
And he can say so much without even saying a thing.
Much like Teal'c on SG1, he says so much with expresion and manerism, that you just know what he is trying to convey.

ahh,
but you could have Stark and Carter double teaming some new guy. Possibly a new head of GD. (I mean they can't really leave Ally there with her performance record) or have them both clash with Henry.

I agree that Stark has been much more fun since he got fired from GD

it's just not natural that after all this time, they would still be treating Carter like a talking monkey. He has proven himself enough times. I wish the writers would remember that he was a federal marshal once.

Hmmm.... I must have gotten confused on a couple of points.

1) When the soldier said he would ber really interested in Beverly, I could have sworn I heard Henry say that Beverly was dead. I thought that was the whole point of him taking Beverly's dna sample, to rig the machine to not rematerialize her in case she tried to escape.

2) I thought I heard the DOD, on the monitor state that Stark was being reinstated due to his submission of the evidence that showed Beverly was responsibility for the accident and Kim's death, not Stark being incompetent.

None the less, I am gratified to hear it's being renewed. It's my favorite new series. I too am looking forward to more of an anthology series where Sheriff carter pulls a rabbit out of his hat to save the day. My favorite episode to date is the one of Mutual Assured Destruction Death Ray that Fargo accidently initiated. Carter driving his jeep into the tower to save the day was a hoot.:p

I'll have to catch the rerun, I might have missed something. They kind of rushed the wrap-up ending of GD so they could show henry.

Like they made some reference to Kevin maybe returning to his autistic state but then later they said he was "fine". Is that fine with autism or fine without autism?

I still think saying Beverly is dead is just their collecive way of covering thier asses. I don't think the DOD even knew they used the transporter. they might not want them to know it was successful on Kevin, so they told the DOD she was dead without explanation.

I don't think the DOD even knew they used the transporter. they might not want them to know it was successful on Kevin, so they told the DOD she was dead without explanation. Yeah, I was kinda surprised that the stormtroopers let that slide without explanation.

I'm inclined to believe that Kevin's autism is gone since he was talking in the end after the transportation. He cried out for his mother and said he was ok. Perhaps the merger of the two dna profiles solved that.

My predictions for Next season is that the show will return basically to it's anthology style roots and:

1) Stark gets his job back.
2) Allison goes back to being the DOD liasion
3) Carter and the dry cleaning girl hit it on
4) Jo and the felony guy continue to hit is on
5) Stark and family re-unite
6) Zoey finally gets to drive
7) Henry will come back about mid-season after a "parole" or some emergency brings him back due to his expertise.

I don't really consider Henry as having come off as a Jerk, but a really grieving man determined to get to the truth and wouldn't let anyone get in his way. He was angry and vented his anger at Carter in the beginning, but that mellowed after he discovered Beverly's involvement. I think he rigged the transporter to "dissolve" Beverly by programming her DNA into the machine and no one is the wiser for it.

The remaining mystery for me is, drum roll please............ Did Carter really lose his long term memory? or did the book reactivate his long term memories? We saw a flashback when Carter found the book but there were times before that it seemed that Carter was trying to get Henry to open up before finding the book.

I think Carter's memory is gone.
At least I hope so.
I would be happy if that whole plot line just disappeared.

I think Beverly is alive and well, and just waiting in the wings to wreak havoc again.
I think telling the guy she was dead was just a way to cover that she escaped.
Otherwise people would be in deep trouble for letting her go.

Doesn't matter how many times Carter proves himself.
He and Stark are rivals, and as such cannot let things slide.
They will use any opportunity to get a shot in.
And that is the way it should be.
It's funny, and it is more realistic.

^^^but would they still really still be rivals if Carter steps aside and lets Stark "have" Ally? I think that they would be wise to let the Carter/Stark relationship mature. They could still snipe at each other (a la Spock/Bones) but without the really mean insults.

I mean after a while, it just gets tired.

I believe the rivalry was built around both men competing for Allyson. If the Stark family get back together next season and Carter continue's to see the lady at the cleaners, the rivalry will decrease a bit and a better respect for each other will emerge due to what they have been thru together. But, yeah, there will still be some fun poking just like with Henry.
