Hello again fellow HT'ers........
Since my last posts,I have been busy at work on my track.Fixed absoloutly any and everything about it that ever bothered me.Painted the whole track flat black, checked the continuity of each lane, and fixed all of the solder joints that needed fixing.
One interesting thing I came upon.
Even tho my track was fastened to the table, there were spots where if you tapped the track,it would move ever so slightly up and down.In other words, some of the track had a slight warp.
This never cut it with me.Too much clickity clack noise for my liking.I was pretty close to saying screw the whole sectional track thing, and buying a Max Track.
While doing some guitar repairs,I picked up a product called "Gorilla Glue" .I noticed while using it that it expanded after it dried.Probably 5 or 6 times its original size.
I went to all pf the spots on my track where the track was slightly warped or loose to the touch.I drilled a hole just big enough in each piece of track to accommodate the tip of the glue bottle applicator and dropped in the glue.
The glue dried, and expanded. And now my track is solid as a rock.As close as I could get to a Max for about 10 dollars worth of glue.
Downside,I can never lift the track off of the table. But in my case,I dont care,as the design of my track layout was done with a lot of planning, and I have no plans to change the layout design anyways.
Very cool little thing I stumbled on,and it worked REALLY well. The track is now as close to perfect as it will ever be.
Now onto a question.........
I installed the reed switches in my layout.Using LT 2000 software, and my laptop with Vista, connected via a USB port with the game port adapter,I still miss laps.
The installation of the reeds is dead on 100% perfect.I went by all of the stuff you guys posted here about your trials and tribulations with reed switches.
I contacted Greg Braun. He basically told me that I might have to move the reeds to a slower part of the track. With all due respect, and I have a HUGE amount of respect for the guy and all he does for the hobby,it was not the answer I was looking for.
So,using my current reed setup,is there other timing software I could use for lap counting?????? At this point I dont care,Im willing to pay for something just so I can get this lap counter issue resolved.
