View Full Version : A little TV time for dirt oval.
johnqpublic 10-01-2007, 08:12 AM This past weekend's Short Track Smackdown, the WDRA's 9th and 10th tour events of the year at Competition Hobbies Raceway and Pine Bowl Speedway got a little local TV coverage . The local Fox TV affiliate airs a show on Sunday nights featuring highlights from the weekend's local 1:1 dirt track racing. One of their correspondents, "Fast Eddie" used to race with me regularly years ago, and I provide him with a ride when the WDRA heads to eastern NY. This year we were able to get a camera to the track!
Each segment of Albany's Fox Fast Track show, which aired last night at 10:30 on the Albany, NY Fox affiliate, can be viewed by clicking on the links in the upper right of the page:

Thanks to Kirt and the Capital District RC Racers for the hospitality this weekend. I think it turned out to be a great time. Also thanks to Fast Eddie and the Fox 23 Fast Track guys for getting RC dirt oval racing a little TV time.

Big_Mike 10-01-2007, 09:04 AM I agree Bob. Paul keep up the good work. You must really love this hobby to put in so much time and hard work to organize this series and bring these great races to us.
Kirt , Todd P. and anyone else involved... What more can anyone say you guys did a great job. Everything ran smoothly the tracks were GREAT and the door prizes WOW!
Hopefully this will be a annual two day event from now on instead of two separate days.
AGAIN GREAT JOB GUYS
BIG MIKE & AMANDA
Todd Putnam 10-01-2007, 11:47 AM Seeing our two day event of R/C Racing covered on Fox 23 Fast Tracks was just too cool- Thanks to Paul and Ed for having Sydney do the "Now on Fox 23 fast Tracks" intro, I must have rewound and rewatched her 20 times already!
fstede 10-01-2007, 12:42 PM A just wanted to say thanks for a great weekend back in the R/C world. A special thanks to Paul for providing the equipment and to Shilo for providing the chassis upgrade for Sunday. Thanks to Jeff Winzens for providing the graphics on the Fox 23 car. Thanks to Kirt and the Capital District R/C crew for putting on the two day event. Hope everyone enjoyed the coverage on Fox 23 Fast Track last night and I look forward to racing again next year with better results of course.

I was pretty disappointed with the coverage on Fast tracks of the Future Race at Syracuse. We show up for the first time at Syracuse and WIN the future race. What coverage was that ? It was Lutes Family Racing [# 959] in 358 mod owned by Bill Lutes that took the checkerd flag and you guys show him in the big block mod # 76.. VERY DISAPOINTING NEWS.

Lutes Family Racing Was that an rc race?
johnqpublic 10-12-2007, 07:31 AM I don't think that Fast Eddie has any control of what gets on the show and what does not.
Big_Mike 10-12-2007, 07:58 AM BILL...... Maybe you should contact FOX and they might (future) FEATURE you in a FUTURE show..
Team21 10-14-2007, 07:43 PM I did e-mail Fox, I'm just ticked cause it's not an easy accomplishment, and it's very important to us that we get the do notice so as to attract possible sponsors. We are out of pocket and to win at Syracuse should at least be worthy of fact info on the news with the right car. They got it right with everyone else. I didn't feel getting the proper air time was such a chore to them. We made History at Syracuse and Fox truely made a mess of the whole story.
