New year, time for a new thread guys.


Greetings Racers!,

Here is hoping that this installment of the track letter finds you and your families in good health and ready for another fun fall/winter of racing at Racers Edge R/C Racing & Hobbies. First on the list is a earlier start time for us this year with being able to get underway with our racing on October 14th. This year we will be hosting two legs of the Hooter Chassis Outlaw Tour series. Speaking of which, they have added a couple classes to the tour in addition to the 4 cell NASCAR class. In addition to that class this year they will be running a class for Spec truck and Eastern Dirt Modified (EDM) With this change, on the Tour days we will be running under their rules in the 2wd stock class. See me or our website for full rules involved with this and all the Tour classes.

We will also be running a series of ca$h races this year as we did last year. One change to that will be instead of running on Saturdays as we did last year we will be running our normal Sunday. Entry will still be $10 per class with a 50% payback on full A-main and first place in other mains. And yes these days will still count toward your points at the end of the season!

I’ve made a couple changes to the Hobby stock class this year that I hope everybody likes and I think will come down more to setup and driving. See the rules on the website for full details but we will be using Trinity spec packs and a weekly handout motor.

The final change I’m making for this year and one I really hate to but must be done is an increase in our entry fee to race. Prices are going to go up to $10, $5, and $2 for classes. It’s something that was suggested last year and I rejected it but this year I’m afraid it needs to be done. Costs of heating and electric continue to rise and to keep the track going this is a needed change for the new season.

As always we will have snacks and a weekly 50-50 with extra prizes thrown into that. I’ll once again have parts and pieces available at the track just in case something unfortunate happens during a race and you don’t already have a replacement part.

Weekly Sunday racing beginning at 12:30 - signups close at 12:15

November 4th - points racing begins

November 25th - $$$ race

December 1st - Hooter Chassis Outlaw Tour

December 23rd - $$$ race

January 6th - mid season points race

January 27th - $$$ race

February 24th - $$$ race

March 1st - Hooter Chassis Outlaw Tour

March 16th - final points race/$$$ race

March 30th - final race/trophy day

You and your dang PURPLE!! :D Looks sharp though. So do you plan on chasing the tour this year or what? What classes will you be running this year at your place? And while on the subject, what will the classes be this year? Any cuts or additions? Just curious............

Gotta love the purple man. It's good for 2-3 mph easy! :D Plan on running the tour in Spec truck and EDM......all except Erie R/C and Freddies that is. Downstairs and to far respectly are the reasons. :( I kind of plan to run Stock truck and 2wd stock, maybe Hobbystock once in awhile. No additions or subtractions to the class lineup as of yet.

You gonna be able to make it up for racing this month?

Rick, I understand if freddies is too far, if you want to head out that way you are more than welcome to ride with my father and I (My decision, I am driving my new car, lol). You could leave your car at my house, and sleep the way there or way back, lol. Just a thought. Hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to you more this year, and am looking to forward to coming back to smethport for the first time in a few years for the tour. Jeff........thanks for the offer but I hate to be without my own wheels in case I have to leave early for any reason. Between that and us racing the next day........I know from experience two days of racing is hard on me and that's with races in our area. Mom doesn't particularly like it either and she always goes with me. :lol: Hope to see you and your Dad here this year.

So will anyone be racing 4 cell NASCAR weekly? I've got a 1/10 pancar now that I'm planning to bring out on Sunday.

Matt.......nobody has mentioned it yet so I wouldn't plan on it. :( Kind of only plan on running my Spec truck at HCOT races.

Well that sucks...what about 12th scale? If there isn't gonna be that, I don't know what I'll run...2wd stock with my late model and my Losi Slider in whatever class it fits in I guess... I'll bring my 1/10 along for some practice anyway I guess...never hurts to get a head start on setup before the tour rolls in...

Hope to be more regular this year but I know I won't be able to start on Sunday's until after the 24th of Oct. Austin has his footlball games every Sunday & the 24th is his last game. Yea, yea..........when it comes to cheap and pancar in the same sentence there isn't much choice but ASSOC. :D Would have LOVED to have an CW Agressor but the pocketbook isn't playing well with that idea. :lol: Throw something together man. I'm sure you'd have a ball!

Unless Paul, Kim, or Don show up Mike I'm afraid the likelihood isn't very high. :( I'm actually thinking of doing the same with my car just to have some more people to run with.

I'm planning on racing Sunday... 2WD stock if possible. (either with my late model buggy or a tc w/ front drives removed) Also bringing along my friend Steve who will be doing stock truck. And if somebody wants to bring out their 1/10 pancar to race, I'll have that with me too.

if thats the case, i will leave the 2wd stock alone and finish building the hobby today.......

I was actualy running down at Newville & Bumps & Jumps to round out my dirt series. I should be around a little more now.

Building a "legal" body for the Hooter tour races is on my list for this week, so I'm moving into winter mode already!

Now this weeks results. The guys are starting to get the new Hobby stock motors and batteries figured out now. Jeff Brown went from a track record best of 75 laps the first two weeks to a best of 84/5:03.58 today. And in the fastest race of the day Tom Himes breaks the current track record in Stock truck of 94 with a run of 96/5:02.25. This record is only 2 seconds off of the current 5 minute record for 4 cell NASCAR and the fastest a gearbox car has run at our track! :eek: Congrats Tom.

What motors on the 1/18's are the majority of the racers running? I would like to make the long trip down sometime for one of your money races and I just want to make sure that I bring the right motor with me.

rc17.......It's an open motor rule class so we've had anything and everything from stock to brushless. Bring your fastest one and you'll be fine. :thumbsup:

Whats the difference between a Big / Small Block Modified Cars body and an E-Mod style body? I might have to bend up something new this year and I might as well make it legal everywhere. 96 laps in a stock truck is just plain sick! Congrats Tom! Nothing like "rasing the bar" early in the season!

yea i'm still around and checking in every once and awhile seein how its all turnin out, and no its not a female lol real cars are expensive maitance i've found out, gotta say outta everything i've got 12th scale fever, but tires is the problem here for any class i'd run for the price of gas isn't helping :(

Scot Tarabori has one and Matt S that visits here raced his one week. The RC18 is still the platform to beat though. 4 letters that make a stock motored RC18T fly, L-I-P-O. Right Tom? :D I gotta see the thing run with a Reedy mod and the LiPO pack up to Erie or Falconer!

Ran 5th in the A today (yes LAST) but I did improve on my laps in each race.

Spec truck is a different animal for me. Started 5th in the A main there and finished last. :( The :( was I got 2 less laps in the main than I did in the heats! Oh well, it was a great fun of a day with all the guys there. Next HCOT race will be at our track on December 1st. :thumbsup:

It's now official..........Paul Brauer is once again the fastest man at our track.........in ANY class! :) Paul came today, he saw, and he annihilated the 2wd stock track record with a run of 98/5:01.18. Tom Himes also broke the record in the 4 cell NASCAR class with a run of 97/5:02.02. Congrats to these guys for the tremendous runs!
