This came to me from "DirtfishMovieNews":
Dirtfish here,

Its been confirmed that the long-awaited sequel X-Files will begin filming in December!

David Duchovny, 47, and Gillian Anderson, 39, are signed to return as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. 5 years have passed since the series finished and almost 10 since the first movie.

X-Files creator Chris Carter will make his movie directorial debut from his own script.

I have only seen maybe three or four episodes of the series, but I passed it on because I figured it would be of interest ... and also, I presume it would provide an opportunity for those who love to complain about things. ;)

And provide an opportunity for those who like to bubble over about how great things are too.

Equal opportunity.

That's interesting news, tho I don't know how I feel about it. The last couple of seasons of X-Files left me feeling... I dunno... disinterested, I guess. At least, the parts w/Mulder & Scully and the Alien Conspiracy junk.

It might be fun if it's done well, neither Anderson or Duchovny have been in anything I can recall since the series ended.

Actually, they've both done a couple of things since their tenure in X-Files.

Duchovny has a series on Showtime right now (or upcoming, I don't know for sure if it's started, but was thinking it should have started last month) entitled "Californication", as well as has had a few roles in some movies and TV Shows. Nothing that's terribly "big", I guess, but he's been fairly busy. David Duchovny's IMDb entry (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000141/).

The ever beautiful Gillian Anderson - so I've still got a thing for me, sue me! - has also kept busy, tho, again, nothing terribly note worthy. Shame, too, as I've always thought she was underrated. But then again, I'm a sucker for Red Heads.... Gillian Anderson's IMDb entry (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000096/).

I was always a fan of X-Files, though as Griff pointed out, the last few seasons got a little ....er....too far "out there" if you follow me.

Still, I'd definitely go see a new X-files movie.

Yeah, I'll go see it. The series did deserve to end. Maybe it should have gracefully exited a couple years earlier, but now that time has passed may a new, original story can refresh the Files.

I wonder what kind of story there is left to tell.

The "X - Files" are supposed to be FBI cases that don't
fit into any normal category, (robbery, murder, treason, etc...).

Mulder, and Scully are out of the FBI as of the last episode from
the TV show. How are they going to investigate if they're
not agents?

Maybe they are found and secretly asked to find the whereabouts of the Ark of the Covenant after being placed in a Government warehouse just before the beginning of WWII? :D

I think they just want you to think there's going to be another movie. Excuse me while I go back to hiding from those unmarked helicopters...

"Jose Chung is from Outer Space" was by far my favorite episode, and one of my favorite episodes from any sci-fi TV show. Not to mention it's the episode that made me utter a sentence I NEVER imagined I'd say in my lifetime, "Charles Nelson Riley was actually pretty entertaining."

Nice cameo by Alex Trebek too.

The title was "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'"

John, pedantic.

Ah... So that's what the "P" stands for in John P. I always wondered about that..... :freak:
