after matchbox tom’s nice horse drawn and sms88’s tough yesteryear question, i had to look at some more lledos. here is a group of dg5 horse drawn pumpers.

Were these ´Made in England´from Jack Odell´s days with the company? If they are then it is very interesting that he chose to remake some of his favourite Lesneys - and shows that Jack knew that certain timeless castings such as this one would always sell and please both kids and collectors

Stutz, completely agree :) thanks jasonz
they were made in england for a number of years and definitely shared a lot with the yesteryear line.
here is a group from 1983 with the early color boxes. the horse drawn pumper and bus look familiar, plus the milk wagon.

here is the cover of the 1986 flyer, i always like the overhead shot and you can see the yesteryear resemblance too. with a greyhound.

The timeline is correct,so these Llledo tools are the work of Jack Odell and are as a result direct descendants of their Lesney look-a-likes.Jack Odell must have chosen models he could remember that he thought would sell, so these were probably amongst his favourite castings too. I dont know how long he was involved with Lledo or even if he stayed with the company until the Corgi takeover (1996 or 1997???) but he did start Lledo.I have never seen the Matchbox 40 years book - it would be interesting to know which castings Jack Odell liked and which he didnt - I dont know how much he shared his opinions about specific Lesney products, but I would like to know and hope that he did...........
