almost every time i shut down/ log off i recieve an error message but never have anough time to read it, so i pull it back out of the event viewer. i then clicked on the link microsoft has in event viewer to help correct the problem, which brought me to another page describing the problem in further detail. i noticed that it says there is no user action required, but how can i fix this. i am sick of seeing it at log off.

here is the page from event viewer link:

Details
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 1517
Source: Userenv
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: EVENT_HIVE_SAVED
Message: Windows saved user %1 registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.

This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account.

Explanation
Windows unloads each user's profile and user's section of the registry when the user logs off. This message indicates that Windows could not unload the user's profile because a program was referencing the user's section of the registry. This locked the profile. The registry cannot unload profiles that are locked and in use. When the program that is locking the profile is no longer referencing the registry, the profile will be unloaded.

User Action
No user action is required.

system specs would be nice here, it could be a software conflict or even a hardware conflict. how old is the system?, is your xp disk one that came with the system (I.E. system disk) or is it a standalone such as an oem or retail version disk? i personally if the pc is 1 year old or older reformat the drive and reinstall everything this would also clear viruses and othe issues as well.

I am thinking you either have en etherenet card hardware conflict or an IP address conflict.

you may have picked up a virus or something, anyway seeing as how it was a premade system and you most likely have a system disk instead of an actual xp disk you would have a lot of useless junk installed if you reformatted. i only have installed what i need because i built my rig and have my oem xp disk. i fould i did not have stuff installed that i did not need like more store bought systems do.

Check that your IP adress is not conflicting with another computer conencted to your router. You may have been assigned the same one as the other computer.

i was wondering how i could check my ip address conflicts with another computer, just trying different things during log off to try to get rid of the message, i unplugged the internet cable out of the modem (leaving my computer plugged into the router) and logged off, no more error message. what would cause this to happen? how could i fix this?
