hello again everyone,
As the title says I have a problem with my savage driveline and it is VERY hard to explain but I will do my best. what is happening is about 60% when I start from a dead stop and give it half throttle or more the engine revs like it is not in the truck and its on its on little stand. that would mean that the transmission would not have engaged or the diffs would be shot but thats not all. after this happens the spur gear and clutch bell are spinning like the clutch is engaged even though it is only at an idle. I then took apart the tranny and looked at the clutch. the tranny looks new(it's a 3 speed) and the clutch looks only slightly worn. the shifting mechanisms work perfectly and the clutch springs are like new. Oh and if this happened I could shift it into reverse and then back into forward and it would run fine for a start or two.

The other thing that happens is when i am driving it and then punch it after a little accelerating it gives out and when it stops even if I keep the breaks on the spur gear and clutch bell are spinning, ect, ect. thanks for your future help because I have no clue what could be wrong.

It's and RB 728 with a roto starter. the engine runs and starts great. there is no problem there.

sounds like its stuck in between forward and reverse. make sure that servo and linkage for reverse is adjusted right, a truck with a rb 28 shouldnt have reverse anyway !!!

ok thanks that makes sense but then why would the spur gear and clutch bell spin like the clutch is engaged when it is only at idle. And why should I not have reverse in the truck because it has a rb 28 engine?

if its in between forward and reverse, it will just spin the spur and go no where. with that much power and reverse, your asking for problems. anyone that races any monster trucks, first thing they do is remove reverse, its usually nothing but problems. as you now see.
