Is it worth getting? I realize that its about $10-15 for a quarterly subscription, (only 4 issues), but its pretty much the only all-die-cast magazine out there.

I've never heard of it... The only diecast magazine I have ever heard of is Diecast Digest... I had some of my diioramas featured in that mag a little over a year ago, but they are about 98% NASCAR stuff... Ya got anymore info. on this mag ?

Hi,

I wanted to advertise in this magazine, Die-Cast X Magazine, and the publisher of it had told me that it mostly covers 1/43 scale and 1/18 scale cars. Since I guess my ad was too small for them I had never received a sample copy from them. As I also want too subscribe for this magazine, yet to see it in stores as I want to see how it looks first before I pay for it for a year subscription.

it's more of a high end diecast magazine. Not a Hot Wheels related magazine. Most articles are feature ads of specific models, product lines or manufacturers. Because it is quarterly, information is outdated usually. Not realy a price guide from what I have seen.

Diecast Digest is out of business from what I was told. Probably because they let their lists go stale and they never bothered to correct the hundreds of mistakes and thousands of omissions. I was told by one of their advisors they stopped publishing earlier this year. It became a useless rag right around the time they decided to include pages of Hot Wheels instead of concentrating on their NASCAR racing base of lists. A monthly magazine with prices is always 2 months behind of the going rates because of timing. There were too many Hot Wheels price guides on the market and many on the internet also.

Vadim is pretty much dead on. It does cover the higher end very well, but it also features an aircraft and military vehicles in each issue. It is a very well written mag with auto based stories and personalities in the industries. The back stories for the featured diecast are very well written. Just a lot of fun.

I really do give it two thumbs up! It is well worth my subscription price. Also features great diecast adds, but no 1:64 is covered. Check out the web site at www.diecastxmagazine.com

Another option is the monthly Toy Cars & Models. This does include some 1:64 scale coverage, including a monthly 10 to 12 page Hot Wheels price guide. This mag also covers promos, slot cars, large scales and plastic models as well. It has a very different fell then the first publication, it tends to be a little more acdamic then Diecast X. I have subscribed for 4 years now. Probably the most comprehensive mag in the market for all toy cars. There web site is... www.ToyCarAndModels.com

As for Diecast Digest, I stopped buying this years ago when I got out of the Nascar end of diecast. Your right, a ton of problems that they never seemed to fix. If you contacted them regarding a omission or incorrect listing, they would say they were aware of the problem and it was being fixed.....but months and issues later, it would never be corrected. I enjoyed the magazine when it was relevant, but it long ago stopped having that position.

As for a printed price guide, I don't know that you can ever expect a printed value to stay current. The values are subjective, and the time delay is unavoidable. But these make nice check list resources. I love my Internet, but I will always enjoy print resources the most...I'm old!

I was a subscriber in the beginning, but I saw more 1/18 and less 1/24 scale in each issue, so I dropped it. It's a very well-done magazine, and if it hits your interests I would recommend it.

I'm currently subscribed and I think I will renew subscription too. It's a bit pricey (especially to get it overseas), but Its very well designed, they also give some background information of the car they are reviewing... Yes, there are mainly larger scales represented (1:24, 1:18, some 1:43 too.) It would be nice if they had a 1:64 section too...maybe someday...

Although it is not published, my friend Doug Breithaupt has provided an online
site which is called "Tales of Toy Cars" at www.breithaupts.com . It is very informative and has a lot of pix and info on new as well as older models 7 years ago in 1:64. I stumbled onto this site while searching the Internet about 7 years ago and have never regreted it!

I subscribed when it first came out but did not re new. Basically it was articles and photos of models advertised for sale in the magazine. It is the same principal as being charged to get into an autoshow so companies can entice you to buy their cars.

I've subscribed to DiecastX for two years now and will be renewing once again. I too give it two   ! I enjoy the high end stuff and they do also cover other scales and price ranges. There is an excellent Muscle Machines article in one. Like it was stated earlier in this post, if you like it enough to try it, go for it!

I have subscribed to Die Cast X magazine for a couple of years and will continue to do so because I concentrate my collection in the upper end 1:18 scale and they cover that pretty well.
