Let me Say this right now!
Kudos to MotorMax for popping the Dodge Diplomat! The blue looks exactly like the 1st cab I ever drove.
That Aries is nicer than the actual car , and having owned 3, I'm allowed to say that.

The T&C Wagon is super sharp as well!

Let me say this as well, when these cars come out think of me, your humble Squirrel pal, I'll need several of these three cars for my collection and for PIPing, but I live in diecast Siberia.
If you like my PIPs, deals can be made!

BTW, The Aries mockup is 1:24 right? are they doing it in 1:64?

The Aries is ON THE MONEY!

Hmmm....I see myself converting that Diplomat into a police/taxi surplus vehicle!

I ordered a T&C wagon...have yet to see a F/C pic of one (or the actual one in my hands).

In the summer of '85 Mom and Dad bought a brand new, four door Chrysler Reliant, first front wheel drive car I ever drove. That winter the attributes of front wheel drive were very apparent, it was like a four wheeled snowmobile! When they traded it off, it had close to 175K on it! (many trips to Alabama from central Illinois!)

That Aries looks great, thanks for the pics. If that Diplomat became available in 1/24, I know the Police modelers would be all over it. I'd have to buy a dozen, easily.

Dear All:

OOOOhhh, wow!!! The pictures!! Thanks guys!!! I can say that Motormax made my day, year, month!!!

Many of the Diplomats,Wagons and Aries (I have an Aries as an everyday driver - is a 1988) will be grabbed. Police Cars I buy in bulk; if the Diplomat does graduate in 1/24, many of these will be grabbed as well, in order to do company to similar sized Caprices and Vics.

MotorMax picture of the day.

Topic name: Meet the man behind it all.

It takes a big man to poke a little fun at himself and that is exactly what
Maurice did at this years AutoFest. Here is an early picture that helped
fuel the fire for Fresh Cherries. This is none other than Maurice himself
styling in front of his first car! We all dig the white shoes and anybody
from that time period can chuckle right along with Maurice as we were all
there once. White shoes, white belt, and keep those pants away from any
flame! Good times and good memories and a big thanks to Maurice for being
such a good sport about it all.

I believe that Astre in the photos is a 74 Canadian only, model. If you look at the grille design, it is different from the U.S. 75 & up grille. I'd like to see this one done in Fresh Cherries series.

I remember both those cars as rental cars I needed and frequently used. The K-Car was useless - as uncomfortable as a Chevette. The trunk had an odd shape that did not take a lot of luggage. And the car was narrower than the similar (price and size at the time at Hertz) Fairmont/Zephyr. The Ford took lots more luggage and it was a wider car that seated three in the rear better.

The big Chrysler wagon was better, but still not as good as the competing Ford/Mercury or Chevy Impala wagons. The other two were longer, seemed lighter and somehow carried luggage better than the Chrysler. I think the tailgates on the Fords and Chevys were more square and were easier to use. The AC/heater controls on the Chrysler were horrible.

I will buy a T&C model when I see one but both the T&C and the K-car were horrible to drive and probably to own - I only had them as rental cars and always asked Hertz to get me anything but the Chryslers.

The best rental car at the time was the Ford LTD/Crown Vic or Mercury Grand Marquis wagon.

The MotorMax site lists the Diplomats as being 1:24 scale.

I think it lists the T&C wagons as being available in both 1:24 and 1:60 Fresh Cherries series.

I thought the Diplomat was going to be in the Fresh Cherries line, in 1/60 scale? Can anyone confirm?!?

I love seeing that photo of the Pontiac Astre. My folks bought a new '75 Astre GT when I was a kid and we limped it along for 9 years. It was a rare car when new and I always liked it. The Astre shown was a '74 Canada only issue. There cannot be more than a dozen of those alive today.

One car in my dream garage is a super-rare '73 Astre. Hoochy-mama!
