With only two weeks until the thrid and final Tri State Race who can we expect to see making the trip to MPR???...
I am sure we will have a very competitive field of cars in all the classes, but look for the sportsmen field to be one of the most competitve races of the day. Local stand out Greg "BIG DOG Hilber is sure to be fast as always, along with the rest of "Team ELEMENT"... And don't count out Mike Dygon "THE ROOKIE SENSATION" making his first start in the Tri State Series. Justin Pirrello has also had some very good runs in the past few weeks. Look for local driver Joe Brooks to run up front in the sprint car class, his car has been fast and consistant from what I have witnessed at MPR.
Come out and see who will be crowned the Tri State Champs!!!...

I'm planning on being there. Randy Brown and John Coloski are making the trip as well. I'm not sure who else from GLQSR is going to make it.

Joe Brooks had better be on his best game as Randy Baker,Fred Murry and Mike Stuchill will be on their best game and we plan to bring it. Randy was fast (as always) in DWF and I have found new speed in the new car I ran at DFW. Bob Elliott and Larry Hopson were also very fast at DFW and I expect they will be at MPR so the locals had better be ready.

I see "The Mayor" lurking about in the shadows, I wonder if he will make his way out for the Tri State Race or if it will be like the rest of the year (my cars to slow, my cars not done, I"m to overworked to race) and on and on and on with his clip board of reasons not to race. Sonny that door stop will be a antique before it sees the track at the rate your going!!!...

DD why don’t you play car owner and stick me behind the wheel of the new number 3.. It’s the end of the season so I’m sure your curious to see how fast it can really go.

That was already proven this past weekend when "The ROCK" stepped back into competition at MPR.

No need for any further input from a rug runner who's too "fill in the blank" to come and run with the quarter pounders at...

the historic
Machesney Park Raceway.

PS Dave Dygon-

There will be some owner points issues to reconcile since the notice on the replacement driver was given in such a short time frame for this past weekend's race. Normal declarations of a replacement driver need to be submitted to Dave Pirrello one week in advance of the event.

Regards,
Joe

I was playing car owner this past weekend when I put Sean Anderson behind the wheel because my regular driver was under the weather. Sean jumped in and with only a few laps was able to finish second in the main. My new car should be ready for the Tri State Race with any luck (not like the year or more to get a sprint car ready). I just need to finish a few things then mount and paint a body!!!...

What is the best route to take from Michigan? I sent away for an I-Pass transponder so I don't have to deal with the toll gates. I'm not sure I'll get it in time, but I plan on making the trip next year too.

Update from MPR:

I made it out to the track around 4:00 or so. Butch and Dave were enjoying the afternoon, taking care of business around the track and getting a bit of test time with their rides. One of great local guys, Sammy Stroud stopped out and was planning some late-night tweaking to prepare for tomorrow's racing action.

Todd Holloway and his father were already set-up in the pits and Todd had taken both hot rods out for some track time.

Murry and John Pipchok rolled in somewhere after 6:00 and got some decent twilight practice time on the track.

Even good ol' Eli Ezrow made it back to MPR after close to a seven year hiatus. I don't know the name of the gentleman that accompanied Eli, but we were glad to see more racers.

I know others have said they were coming, so we'll look forward to seeing them tomorrow morning. The ladies look to have a great menu planned for tomorrow morning. I heard mention of biscuits and gravy..., my mind got all cluttered after those words and cannot even begin to tell you what else they have in store for breakfast. Maybe some of the out-of-towners will get filled up enough that they need a nap and miss a heat or two...???

NAH!!! This is MPR!!!

You guys do a great job putting on a first class race. I would also like to thank all of the drivers that came out to race today, Mike and I had a great day of fun and racing. Had a good time seeing everyone at MPR today even you Pirrello.

Decent car count with 9 sprints and 15 Sportsman.

Congrats to Randy Baker for taking the Sprint A-main win and Tri-State championship. Also to my buddy Joe Brooks for second and I think Bob Elliot finished 3rd.

Also Congrats to the Hilber family for the Sportsman sweep. (1) Matt , followed by (2) Paul and, (3) Big Dad Greg. All three cars were hooked up. Nice job guys.

I think a great time was had by all this past weekend.

We had decent weather, great food served, good car count, and some close competition on the race track through the qualifying heats and mains.

Congrats to the event winners: Matt Hilber in Sportsman and Randy Baker in Sprint.

I am sure 2008 will see a continuation of this great series.

Thanks to all who competed and enjoyed good racing and fellowship through this series.

Yes, In deed. The folks at MPR are first rate and i had fun racing there. TRSMD (The Rookie Sensation Mike Dygon) was real close to me in speed and handeling. Nice job, it was a blast and nice number on the car (55). I run that number in memory of my nephew that passed away last year at age 39.

I wish the track was closer, i'd make more trips there. If one of you have the results, I'd like to finish the points up on our website. Please forward me a copy or e-mail me the final results.

Thanks goes out to the women too for the eats and treats!

Wanted to add my thanks to the MPR crew for another well run race . The ladies who put on the concession stand and kept us all fed ( as you can tell by Sonny's picture ) deserve a big round of applause . The weather was calm , the racing was close and good , makes the whole trip worth while . Fred and I checked out the Rockford Speedway Sat night , and for as many times as we've gone there we've never have seen that many late models there at one time and actually saw some passing . The whole program was pretty good and I got the feeling some of the cars weren't going to make the Sunday program , wadded up a few they did . WE had a little excitement on the way home in the morning , blew a right front at 70mph in the middle lane , in the middle of Chicago and the traffic was heavy . WE got it changed but if we were audittioning for a pit crew job we failed . All said we had another great time and are looking forward to coming back to MPR next year a few times .
Randy
