View Full Version : Seaford Race Cancelled
ptown20 09-14-2007, 08:02 AM It never seems to fail, every time we try to have a big race Mother Nature has other plans. Years ago we used to have a race in Aug. that we called the Hurricane race as it was hit by hurricanes 2 years in a row. Now we get the same thing in Sept. for 2 years in a row. Do to the schedule over the next couple of weeks it will be impossible to reschedule this year. Lets see what happens next year!!!
JH Racing 09-14-2007, 08:20 AM Hurricane Season SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr.fastman 09-14-2007, 10:43 AM What a bummer!
Scarecrow One 09-14-2007, 12:38 PM Paul: Sorry about the weather. It's raining here every day now. Got part of a two day race in last week. Had to cut from 3 quals to 2 because of lighting. (Boy do I hate Lighting) Then on Sunday had to cut the Last Main from 45mins to 8 because the rain. It was so hard we couldn't see the track. Down here it could rain the the morning and never rain again or rain in the afternoon. we never know.
Hope to see everyone soon.
Com'on Lotto. hehehe
ptown20 09-14-2007, 03:45 PM Scarecrow, I hate to say it but we really need the rain. 12" below normal for the year. Just to bad it always happens on big race weekends. You should plan to come to Coopers for the dirt oval race. 400 + entries and it's INDOORS! It can rain, snow or sleet we don't care. If I don't see you there I hope to be at the birds of course as a spectator ( too old to try to stay up 22 hours a day, I need my beauty rest!!)
TBRC1 09-14-2007, 03:56 PM What are the weather guys down there saying ????? cause according to accuweather.com and weather.com it's looking like the race could happen. But mine is not the final call :(
Greg H 09-14-2007, 04:58 PM So, who's up for racing at Mushroom Bowl instead? The weather is calling for clearing in the morning and should be nice by the afternoon.
Bill Auchterlonie 09-14-2007, 07:07 PM Paul, if you want you can just mail me one check for TQ, Fastest single lap and Win as I dont like to carry a lot of cash on me.
Thanks for all you did this past season Paul. Your time and effort was greatly appreciated by many of us.
Echeconnee 09-14-2007, 07:29 PM I have seen pictures of the track but not recently, are there any posted online? I am from O.C MD but have been living in middle GA for 20 years. I am looking forward to a trip up there, nothing like that Delmarva seafood!

TBRC1 09-15-2007, 10:59 AM Man to bad it was cancelled. By 10 am here around Bmore it was white puffy clouds lotsa blue sky and comfortable. OK so there is a good wind BUT hey we can race in wind.......................I think  Well here hoping next yr will offer MUCH better weather !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH and for the Seaford racers if your interested sunday the 23rd (next sunday I think) is the test and tune at Glen Burnie ............Hey I spelled it right this time :woohoo: So bring the pans and the sprinters and have some fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Al Spina Fan 09-15-2007, 05:05 PM You made the right call Paul.
ptown20 09-15-2007, 08:32 PM Sorry guys, but with the forecast yesterday it just wasn't worth the chance. I know that alot of guys had a long way to travel and it's just eaiser to make that dreaded call.
Also just as an update the future for Seaford is pretty bleak. Will make a final decision by the end of the year.
BEACH 09-15-2007, 09:49 PM The future of Seaford is pretty bleak.....YIKES, that doesnt sound gooooood. Jim
TBRC1 09-16-2007, 09:44 AM I know I don't get down there alot but it would bite to loose Seaford as a place to race. The onlt thing for me that's a negative is hasseling with beach traffic to get there. Outside of that, the occassional lakkafunds is the only stopper for me. Here's hoping for another season in Seaford
