Hi to all,
I have a dumb question :freak: I want to chop the top on a truck, when I is J B Weld to reattach it do I put the weld on the cut surfaces( like glue) or on the side and file down?
Thanks for your advice,

Both!
Put it where you need to. (dumb answer)
What I mean is, unless it's like a Model A or Model T type truck, the top tapers inward as it goes up so there's prolly gonne be all kindza gaps everywhere ~ the posts problee ain't gonna line up to good!
Get 'er chopped apart, then post some pics if you can and we'll try'n talk you through it. Let'er rip, man!

I usually super glue the top back on then add JB weld as needed Here is a couple that I have done the van I cut about a 1/4 " out of the body the truck I just chopped the tophttp://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee157/flh47/CustomHotWheels067.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee157/flh47/CustomHotWheels006.jpg
i like to use 4 min jb weld then put it on all cut areas then put the top down so it sandwiches the jb weld out and around the work area.do not push the top down flat. you need a small gap of jb weld between both areas. with a tooth pick i test the hardness when its just about ready to set up i take the tooth pick flat end and smooth out as much as i can. let set for around 30 mins then sand.
quick tip.... i save my metal fileings in a plastic tube. when i mix my jb weld i will also mix fileings in with it. dont go over board with it use just a lil and mix.
when you sand it down you get the metal look. it's a lil harder to sand but worth it in the end.
