Hey guys!
Can anyone shed some light on this track and these cars? (see pics)
The tyres on the cars are marked Eldon -750-15
The cars came with a trackset Marked:
19060 American Flyer Stock Car race.
The track has no actual slot, but a center rail. These cars came with but do not (obviously) belong to this set.
Thanks, guys!

Just to add a little information; I picked up this set a year a go at a train show. I tested the cars with Joez last week, they run extremely well albiet they need new rubber on the wheels.

Yep those are Eldon 1/32s alright. Hey if you realy want to run them try a rubber band over the tire. I never cared for those cars myself. The Eldons with screw on bodies are a lot more fun to drive and tires are readily available on paybay for them also.

The 19060 American Flyer Stock Car race was made by AC Gilbert around 1960 I think. From what I know, they used electric train motors to drive the Hot Rods around the track. There was no guide pin or flag but a guide arm with a magnet which followed the center embedded train rail. I don't know how well these ran but the track is unique. Sometimes they pop up at auctions and other places. One place that bought out AC Gilbert stuff ages ago used to advertise parts and pieces for this set in their catalog but complete cars are pricey. The other cars are basically common Eldon 1/32 slots.

After seeing this link I now know what this stuff from a junk lot is...Gilbert. These look to be of the 2 rail type and one is different as it has a spring in the center of the front guide rail and the bottom is solid plastic under the motor.
The tires all seem soft still and bet they would work for running. All the tires on the white rims still have the center mold line mark on them and look like they didn't see much track time at all. Man anyone from Gilbert co. still around? This tire compound is what should have been used by the other companies back in the 60s. The tires on the red rims look like somebody enjoyed running these things cause they have seen pleny of use but, still not hard. The rims on the red tires do have some cracking when you squeeze them though.
The white spinners just pop on the rims and stay...don't like the way they look but, there are 4 of em' still the same. Body screws and screw post still intact without any cracks.
Well curiosity killed the cat but, still had to put power to these slots that could be possibly older than me. Yep they all run and looks like 2 running cars could be built from this mess off parts. I originally got these because I liked the looks of the steelie style rims but, now that I am getting out of 1/32 this batch will just go to a good home someday.
Joez if you are interested in this Gilbert stuff just PM me. It is yours for the asking for about a buck -n- a half. If not then will just offer it up here. You first Joez & if you need more pictures feel free to ask.
