Hi Everyone,

here are a few cars from my collection, they are approx 1/43 scale (might be a bit larger)

The blue one on the first pic is a Joal, all the rest are Diapet. On the 3rd pic the red one is a Honda Prelude.

Vadim could you give us a run down on the models - I recognised the Prelude (well I did own one), but, I'm not sure about most of them.

Cheers,

Steve

The real charm for me that makes these stand out when compared with modern diecast is the spring suspension, opening doors, hoods and trunks (with spare tyre) - features I loved as a child and still do today which really make it hard for me to really like modern collectables without these features.

Though I love Mercedes models, and especially 300SL roadsters, I had never seen that Joal one before. Now to find one! I do have a Joal 230SL that, like the 300SL, seems to be made from old Tekno designs.

I agree with the sentiment about older models. I prefer them too. The new models are antiseptic. They are crisp and perfect but not at all toys. The old stuff was clearly and only a toy; there were not back then any "models" built to satisfy discerning adults. Rather all model cars were toys - designed and marketed to the toy market. That some adults found them, appreciated them as models representing the history of the automobile and preserved them (rather than played with them) was the start of this hobby. I like very much the new Minichamps, Auto Art, Spark, Schuco, etc. quality models but they are so perfect that they have little charm.
