How can a guy tell the difference between the old 10.5 non pro with the black ring around the end cap and the 8.5 motor witch has the same rings?
Can a guy us the same up grades on the 8.5? Sintered rotro? ribbed end bell?
How can this be easy tech?
Am i correct? Novak did make and 10.5 that looked the same as the 8.5????

there should be a strict policy at the track for cheating. make it so no one wants to cheat

An Inductance Meter is the easiest way to do so.

2 tenths a lap is the difference,lol.

again

THE TRACK NEEDS TO OWN A LCR METER! this is the only true way to tell what your are running.

Novak originally offered the 4300 (10.5T) and 5800 (8.5T) motors---they had the original bonded rotors. If you have one of these original (but discontinued) motors, you can upgrade them to SS Pro performance by installing this Sintered Upgrade Kit. (http://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=5923/135.0.15995.17447.0.0.0)

The only sure way to determine motor compliance is with an inductance meter, as described in this How-To:

Testing for Motor Compliance (http://teamnovak.com/Tech_info/motor_tech/index.html)

Of course, if we knew then what we know now, things probably wouldn't be this confusing.... ;)

Thank you very good info Novaktwo.

What I was looking for was an answer on if a guy could just look at one of these motors in a car and be able to tell.
Looks like the answer to that is no. :( Oh well.
Thank guys for all replys. :)

Could you really just look at the outside of a brushed 27T or 19T and tell if it was legal???

Well, No but it's not like you can change or mod the arm in the brushles.

well if the guy is running 10 teeth smaller pinion would be a good give away

Learning curves suck ;), but as a veteran just starting brushless let me say THANK YOU  You guy's have a full plate for sure.
Oval guy's are great for perfecting, so use us for info and take it for what it's worth.

Thanks again, Bret
