I would like to see the wheels pulled in tight against the chassis and the fenders (front and rear) to sit over the edge of the tires...

Scott 1976Cordoba 09-01-2007, 08:59 PM If you slipped a nylon washer between the chassis and the hub, could you get the hub a bit closer? Probably not, hey? Friction is friction. Scott You mean like a stock T-Jet  Dave Metzner 09-02-2007, 10:57 AM Making a body to fit any particular slot car chassis is a series of compromises. Many real car proportions -length to width and wheel base / track width present problems when you try to shrink them down to fit on an existing slot car chassis. Almost all HO slot car manufacturers are trying to make bodies fit a single chassis Some bodies work better than others...Some manufacturers just do better jobs of making compromises to body proportions that look good on an HO chassis than others. bobhch 09-02-2007, 11:24 AM I would like to see the wheels pulled in tight against the chassis and the fenders (front and rear) to sit over the edge of the tires... Scott Well this Willy's is like that and probably why people like it so much. Sure the front end is up high. That is just because it is getting ready to do a wheelie. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/bobhch/abad1.jpg Bob...zilla Montoya1 09-02-2007, 12:12 PM I would like to see the wheels pulled in tight against the chassis and the fenders (front and rear) to sit over the edge of the tires... SplitPoster 09-02-2007, 01:25 PM As far as t jets go, look at some originals vs. their modern copies. The only Aurora tjets I see on my shelf with tires protruding are tuff-ones. Pick up the exact copy in current production and the rear tires stick out even further. (Camera battery died, darn it) Bodies to fit chassis? I don't think so, more like using the widest wheels and largest tires possible, and then not pressed in tight to chassis either, not a good look on the store shelf. If the originals looked good with some tread showing, then even bigger tires stuck out further must make them superior. Another example where bigger is not necessarily better? Or maybe they were shooting for that bling-bling look, like the stock 28's on the Mopar Mania cars. the new racemasters stuff is very nice looking, can't wait to get those Fords. micyou03 09-03-2007, 11:55 AM When I was growing up in the 70s, all the coolest 1:1 cars were jacked way up and had very wide rear tires protruding past the body. I always liked that look, and the Tuffones were and are my favorite slot cars. Not to mention they handle better with the wider wheel base. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
