dido41 09-07-2007, 11:19 AM To anyone that wants to get into off road racing here at BFG’s outdoor track or the new winter indoor track when it’s completed. Or just looking for a buggy.
I have an extra Losi BK2 1/10 scale buggy roller for sale. I want to get my $90 back out of it. It will come with a body and complete set of used tires. 2-3700MhA and 1-3800MhA batteries. This is a local sale for someone looking to race here at BFG. If you’re new to racing or just want to run in the buggy class, this is for you. I will have it with me on Sundays during the races. Or upon request I can bring it down to BFG on Wednesday or Friday nights during the races.
nitrohead 09-09-2007, 09:06 AM You guys wanting to run gas come down to CRCRC we will welcome you eagerly.
newbie2 10-15-2007, 08:04 PM what are the rules for mini class? What i'm wondering is are u allowing the kyosho mini inferno 1/16 to run in the 1/18 class?
Tdevil 10-15-2007, 11:16 PM Indoor track is nearing completion. We run a stock class and an anything goes class as far as minis. We have run the 1/16 with the 1/18. If we have enough we would run them separate.
OUR FIRST OVAL RACE WILL BE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20. RACING WILL START AT 5:00. We will run 3 heats and the mains. We open at 10 a.m. so you can come as early as that if you want. Planning on making Saturday nights oval night for the winter.
Race fee is $12 and covers practice before and/or after racing. Let's get some talk going about who is coming and what you will be running. Will give us a chance to get some classes somewhat sorted out before Saturday.
WINTER SCHEDULE WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:
Off-road Wednesday nights starting at 6:30, 2 heats and the mains. $10 race fee. FIRST WEDNESDAY NIGHT RACE WILL BE OCTOBER 24.
Friday night "run what you brung" starting when we open at 5 and going until whenever. $10 adults (includes $3 food credit) $5 15 and under (includes $2 food credit) THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, OCTOBER 19 WILL BE INDOORS ON THE OVAL.
Off-road Saturday starting at 11 a.m., 3 heats and the mains. $12 Race fee.I am trying to find out if the 1/8 are still going to come out and race on Saturdays or if we are done for the season. It may be time to start racing indoors on Saturdays. IF WE CAN GET THE INFIELD DONE AND WE ARE NOT RACING NITRO, THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20 WE WILL START RACING INDOORS AT 11 A.M. I will keep you updated as to progress on the track and whether we are still running 1/8.
Off-road Sunday starting at 1:30. 3heats and the mains. $12 race fee. NOTE THE CHANGE IN STARTING TIME. I would like to push the Sunday start time back to 1:30 to give those that attend church a chance to show before we start. THIS WILL BE EFFECTIVE SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21.
15 and under half price race fees
Half price for Saturday night oval if you run off-road Saturday morning.
Memberships $25 per month include unlimited practice days and 25% off race fees.
Starting times may be adjusted in the future if turnouts cause the race program to run longer than the planned 4-5 hours.
Also please bear with us as things are still under construction and there is some dust and debris, but we need to get the indoor program up and running to pay the bills.

The Brain 10-16-2007, 09:40 AM Hello everyone. With what appears to be 3 tracks in GR within 8 miles of each other all open on saturday nights I was thinkin of opening a fourth. There must be a market for it. Thinkin figure eight layout. Give me your thoughts!
newbie2 10-16-2007, 12:58 PM I have 1/10 brushless and inferno st.. looking for some info on tires. are u using same tires on oval an offroad/... hope to make thhis my winter track, I'm coming from Midland. can't make it this weekend going to give the AD2 and 8T one more workout at clio.. thanks
HERSHEYSQUIRTS 10-16-2007, 01:45 PM John what time will you be there tomorrow to work on the indoor track?
FK24
Tdevil 10-16-2007, 02:54 PM Not sure what the purpose of your comment is. BFG is the only indoor dirt track in Grand Rapids. I believe we are the only indoor dirt track on the West side of the state. The only carpet in our place is the carpet we walk on. We serve an entirely different group of racers than the other two tracks cater to. We never run the same type of race program on the same day at the same time as the other tracks. We are running dirt oval on Saturday night while the other tracks are running carpet stadium and carpet flat track for trucks. Sounds like you are comparing apples and oranges.

I will be there by 5:00 to work on the track tomorrow.

cornelje 10-16-2007, 04:51 PM I was running the other night on the indoor and all I can say is WOW. The track is very smooth, very grippy and is going to be my 2nd home this winter. Thank you so much!
I've got an 18B with mamba I would like to run, and have 3-4 other friends with 18s that'll will come out consistently. We just wanna run with someone. If anyone wants to run stock we can do that as well.
Pertaining to tires, on my car I have the sedan rally tires and they handle like a miracle on the track, and have virtually no wear. I'm pulling wheelies inside and outside with them. I highly recommend them for the 18th scales.

harleymon85 10-16-2007, 07:15 PM Hi all,
When will you be posting pics of track ??
newbie2 10-16-2007, 08:29 PM what classes will u be running on the oval friday night ? what is the address so I can map quest it. Do i understand u are running oval fri. Oct 19, off road indoors SAT. OCT 20. AND AGAIN SUN. OCT. 21 ??
Tdevil 10-16-2007, 09:20 PM Friday night is "run what you brung". There are no classes, there are no heats or mains. We will run races with the transponders when a group wants to run. If you want to run trucks, buggies and anything else together on Friday nights have at it. Organized oval with heats and mains and classes will be on Saturday nights. Classes to be determined based on what starts showing up.
If the track can be completed by Saturday we will run indoor off-road this Saturday the 20th and yes again on Sunday the 21st. We will run both days every weekend for the indoor season as long as there are enough out to make a race day.
Visit our website at www.battlefrontgaming.com for address and directions.
Tdevil 10-16-2007, 09:44 PM It isn't much of an off-road track yet. Next step is to get the clay for the jumps in between the profiles. Will be working on that Wednesday and Thursday nights. Any and all help would be much appreciated. Especially from those that did not want wood under the jumps thus increasing the amount of clay required. Only kidding. No wood will be better in the long run.

Hey Keith,
John is using the wood boxes to build the jumps, hills, tabletops, etc... inside of. Just like he did on the outdoor track, lay the wood fill it with clay, wood supports the outside of the jumps....walla instant track.

Ya,they all kinda blow.j/k Run the other 3 out of town.
TOYMINATOR 10-16-2007, 11:18 PM Wise decision John, the 2x4's will hold the wood for the sides of the jumps. Are you still going to do the cable thing or is it looking like it will hold without it?
Tdevil 10-16-2007, 11:35 PM I used 3/4 inch osb for the side boards. I think what is there will do just fine without the cables. Time to haul the clay!!!!

I don't know where these apples and oranges are coming from considering I never said the three tracks were running the same format and if you would have read what I wrote, a figure eight would be a fourth option. What I said was there are three tracks open at the same time.

It would be sweet if u opened new track. There is a huge void for a nitro indoor track.U could have the only 1 in the state.Would be a huge draw.Do u have ambrc or rc3? Do u have a bunch of cash to get it going? Your really not making any friends with your comments on this forum. Thats not really going to help get it going. Do u race locally? What classes? Please do not tease us with dreams of a possibly of a really cool place to rip, unless u are going to back it up. Do not get peoples hopes up.
Seem kinda strange this was your first post!
Make it happen, build kisk a$$ track.
HERSHEYSQUIRTS 10-17-2007, 10:47 AM Track Looks Good So Far..... Looks Like The Jumps Are A Bit Close To The Corners If We Run Left To Right. Hopefully Thay Can Be Pulled Back A Bit. I Will Be There By 6 To Help Out......
Fk24
Tdevil 10-17-2007, 11:30 AM Yes, we are running left to right. The features are pretty much where they will be.
The track has been test run by myself and other individuals and should flow very nicely. It is not a big air track. Trying to double or triple things will probably result in being stuck in the corner waiting for a marshall.
Looking forward to the help
John

Still trying to figure out the purpose of your initial post and why it was posted in this thread.l I would like to keep this thread on topic and about the indoor track that we have at BFG. If you would like input and thoughts on your ideas for a new track in the area, would you please create your own thread to do so.
Thank you,

S. Jerusalem 10-17-2007, 12:55 PM John-Not trying to be a wise-ass, but is that layout set in stone?
Jason
Tdevil 10-17-2007, 04:52 PM Right now, the pictures just don't show the layout very well. Tom Herron has helped me out quite a bit laying it out and tweaking it. There is quite a bit more to the layout than the pictures can show right now. I think it will be smooth, fast and fun.
John
S. Jerusalem 10-17-2007, 05:07 PM I stopped to see the track and was impressed. The pictures don't give a good sense of how big it is. The pipe layed out for the oval is a tad misleading, as well.
Fred Knapp 10-17-2007, 06:59 PM Looks to me like you guys with the FWD's are going to be able to ripp it up.
Mike Champ 10-17-2007, 07:08 PM Looks to me like you guys with the FWD's are going to be able to ripp it up.
We will sure do Fred!!!
I've got my brushless fixed in my 4WD, so that is definitely ready to rip now!!!
Just have to fix couple things on the B4, and that should be ready to go too...
Can't wait for the track to be ready to race...
See you all soon there!
Mike Champ
Stateline R/C 10-17-2007, 07:11 PM where is this place at... web site or address? thanks
Fred Knapp 10-17-2007, 07:16 PM http://www.battlefrontgaming.com/
kzacher 10-17-2007, 07:20 PM How many people are planning on racing electric this Saturday? Myself and two friends are planning on coming out this weekend. One would really like to run the oval but, but I'm only really interested in the offroad. If enough people are planning on Saturday we may come then and just stay the whole day if not we'll just come out Sunday for the offroad.
We will have: 3 18th scales, a 2wd Mod, and a 4wd, and a 1/18th slider.
S. Jerusalem 10-17-2007, 08:11 PM If the track is ready, who's running what?
Mike Champ 10-17-2007, 08:15 PM John,
It might be a good idea to edit your first post on this thread and add the link to the website and Address and Phone #, so people can find the info right there when they enter the thread for the 1st time... Don't hesitate to write it in big and bold... Just a thought...
Stateline R/C 10-17-2007, 08:21 PM thanks
Duke Bradshaw 10-17-2007, 08:59 PM Mike,
I am going to run a BJ4 with a 4.5. All ready had it so I will try it. What gear should I run for the pinion gear on this thing.
Duke
Tdevil 10-17-2007, 09:36 PM Got the triple roughed in and part of the jump/tabletop. I am using the extra topsoil for a base to get rid of it and save on clay.
I may be underestimating the amount of dirt/clay that has to be hauled in to get this thing done in time for the weekend. Thanks to those who came out and helped tonight. Without a small army out tomorrow night I am not sure I can have it done for Saturday. I have conferences again until 7 tomorrow night, but Jason will be there to run things until I get there. He can show anyone who wants to come out and help what to do. We have lights to put outside and can work as late as anyone is willing to. Working hard to get the track up and running, but it is hard when you are a two man show and working full time plus on top of it.
John
Ntwadumela 10-17-2007, 09:40 PM What time does Jason get there? I get out of work at 4 and am only a block or two away. Might be able to haul a couple of loads for you on Friday before I have to bug out for family time.
Tom
02CooperS 10-17-2007, 10:16 PM If the track is ready, who's running what?
Off-road - Mod Truck, and you should check out the new CR rig, man is it nice.
Oval - I finally found a good use for a sedan, 4wd latemodel. I don't think my conversion kit will be here in time to turn my buggy into a 2wd latemodel though.
Tdevil 10-17-2007, 10:32 PM Jason will be there by 4:00 tomorrow, I will get there about 7:30. I will be there by 4:00 on Friday myself.
Thanks!!!

Duke
I used 14T on my XXX-4, and I believe you should gear down 1 with the BJ4 to get same final ratio. So I will be running 13T on mine with the same setup...

If I had to guess I would say it is probably someone involved with one of the 2 carpet tracks and they are worried that BFG will pull business because of being the only dirt track (because BFG will) There will be a sharp decline in stadium racing with an indoor dirt offroad in west michigan.
psycho02 10-18-2007, 04:24 PM Off-road - Mod Truck, and you should check out the new CR rig, man is it nice.
Do you have one?? If so do you have track time on it? and if you do does it like the softer set up like the CR buggy does?

Mr Ken, are you going to race with us this year? That would be awesome if you are running 2wd and/or 4wd...
Hope to see you there...
Mike
psycho02 10-18-2007, 08:40 PM Do you have one?? If so do you have track time on it? and if you do does it like the softer set up like the CR buggy does?
Yep Champy, as soon as football season is done I will be hitting the track. 2wd buggy for sure and either truck or 4wheel not sure as to which one yet.
Ntwadumela 10-18-2007, 09:17 PM Jason will be there by 4:00 tomorrow, I will get there about 7:30. I will be there by 4:00 on Friday myself.

John
I'll stop by Friday and do what I can to help before I have to get home. (Darn family obligations :p )
Tdevil 10-18-2007, 09:54 PM Picked up a 12 cu. ft. dump cart for the tractor tonight. Should make hauling the dirt in from the back forty much easier. 4 wheelbarrows worth in one trip with the tractor.
Saturday off-road looks very doubtful. Outdoor track will most likely still be water logged and the indoor track will probably not be ready.
Oval is still on for Friday night "run what what you brung" and Saturday night organized racing.
Any and all help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
John
