Fred?,
I really hate to say it but those are some really awful examples of a 57' chevy.
Please don't take it the wrong way, it's not your fault but no matter what you do, did or can do, will never make a bad casting good.

I couldn't agree more, they are not to my liking either. ~ BUT ~
BUT just because it's not to some peoples tastes, does NOT mean YOU shouldn't like it, Fred.
And you obviously like 'em cause you got three of them.
Something is only "bad" if YOU don't like it.
Is strawberry icecream bad?
Only if YOU don't like it. That's why they call it taste.
Hot Wheels cars sell by the millions for a reason. People like them.

Fred here customized 3 of these cars. He is proud of them and should be.
He must be because he posted pics and he should be encouraged in every way.
He put a lot of time into them and HE likes them. I'm sure he's not the only one.
And if the type of car isn't liked by some, that doesn't mean the WORK DONE
to it isn't appreciated.

I almost didn't post this because I didn't want to alienate McRooster.
He should be able to express HIS tastes and that's all he said he was doing
and I understand that.
I just feel it's really important to encourage everyone for their efforts.

McRooster, PLEASE don't YOU take this the wrong way!!!
I do tend to rant on a bit sometimes!

Did you chop the top on the middle car? Looks like a nice clean job on that.
Paint's pretty clean on all 3, air brush or rattle can?

Ok Now you went and done it McRooster, This is a customizing board and evryone has different taste's I myself think the 57 chevy looks good from Hot wheels and think this guy wanted a response on what he did not the casting, I think he should change the wheels on a couple of them but not all of them.
Fred You did a good job on the cars, I Like the white one best of all. Keep up the good work.

If ya plan to do more of these I think you should try combining all 3 ideas into one.
Axle swap to some fancy rims with low profile tires (maybe try to lower the car too), chop the roof:thumbsup: (I liked that), and cover the rear wheel well.
Personally I'm not a Hot Wheels guy either but I do like what you did with them.
I'm noy criticizing, just encouraging you to do more.:)

I also like the blacked out bumpers I did that to a JL 55 Chevy.

Hey Fred47, very good work. I got to say I dig #1 and #3. The skirt is a great idea and the yellow stripe works very well.

Were glad your here, welcome aboard!

I have no idea why not, but we don't see a lot of Hot Wheels on this custom board. Never really thought about it, but we all do them from time to time, we just don't see them (HW's) often on HT.

But nice stuff and the pics are truly nice. So hit us with more please!

I apologize if I offended anyone, that was not my intention. I was not criticizing your work fred, there's nothing wrong with it. All I was saying is that only so much can be done with that casting, there are just so many other brands of the '57 chevy on the market that would have made a better candidate for customizing. Again, I'm very sorry and meant no harm.

Good job! Of the three I like the white one best, but I think the skirt idea on the blue one was very clever.
I have quite a few of these as '57s are one of the casting I collect. I just haven't customized any (yet).
