Hello racers. We are working on a bid for the 2008 Carpet Oval Nationals here in Florida at Minnreg. What weekend are taken so far for big events for 2008. Any help would be appreciated as we have to rent Minnreg and there are only a few weekends open - Memorial Day being one of them. This might be too late in the season but I think racers will race if they can. I loved all the years racing the Nats this weekend (when I used to be able to race before running these races haha)

Thanks!

So please post any big races in 2008 that are set yet.

Sounds like a good weekend to me and a good way to finish off the carpet season. Mike you always put on such fun events with all the details and rules covered way before the events happens. Because you do all the little extras with trophies, sometimes purses, great advertizing and sponsors not to mention live online web access that this would be a HUGE event. It might breath life back into a National Event. Thanks for your efforts, Bill

Thanks Bill for the nice message....

I have been pro and against ROAR in my years. But I believe we need structure and organization and they are really trying. I want to have a hobby to race in when I am 50 years old LOL!!!!

I know Arcor has had some established races but I am not sure when they are. I don't want to pencil in a date to step on toes.

Way too late in the year, already cap tire racing by then....Stay in March or first 2 weekends of April!

Good luck with the bid.

Mike I think that a lot of planning on the Carpet and Paved oval dates would be needed. Back in the 90's ROAR's only oval national race was held on that weekend and drew big attendence.

Carpet nat's end of May, first of June and then the Paved less than 2 months, could strain time off and budgets of manufactors much less the Joe racer that likes to be at the big events.

I do belive you would get strong support from the FL, GA amd deep south areas to have a good turn out.

Once again the only national event is the Bird's. All the others are just big regional races with an organizations National title.

Would some racers not do the bird's in favor of this race (better time to have family along). Mike you are good at putting on your events and it does take someone to take the chance as you have in the past.

Good Luck and maybe I will make 3 trips to FL. (Bird's, Daytona, Nat's).

We have have a big base here already and figure diehard racers will go to the nats where ever it may be, so I don't think it would hurt the 'birds (or at least I hope it won't). We have a real nice place to race here in FL and figure why not try and at least get it - then we can go from there. A shorter race week too with pit setup Wed night and practice Thursday are some ideas to make it easier to come. Just waiting to see what dates are set for 2008 and go from there.... thanks guys!
