I just bought a still sealed in package tyco 440X2 #28 Halvoline Texaco Thunderbird to replace a runner that had been heavily damaged and multiple repairs. The price was right, the photos fair... and now that I have opened the package I find that the left side wheels are melted ( no problem ) and the white of the car has yellowed.
The package was sealed and shows no sign of yellowing but the car is awful. Anyone have any solutions for the yellowing without damaging the tampos?

FYI, I gave the seller positive feedback. The issues weren't obvious and appeared to be a coloring problem with the packaging vs. the actual car.

HELP!!

I have cured some yellowing in the past with Windex. Dampen a Q-tip with it and rub lightly.

Be very very carefull with winex it can attack chrome and some Tampos

What about diluting some bleach and applying lightly with a Q-tip? I would first try it on the inside of the body just incase some reaction would occur. Let us know if you find a workable solution.

OK, the windex did nothing for the discoloration. I attempted to attach a photo but still haven't figured out how to do that. I did upload a picture of the Tyco Havoline body to the Photo Album. Not the best picture, just remember the background is a white sheet of paper and you can tell the amount of discoloration.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Well, the paper looks yellow but not as bad as the body. Was that sitting in the sun? Have never seen one discolored that bad. rr

That car is supposed to be white? Wow!

I googled 'plastic yellowing' and the results were that it may not be fixable, although someone did say they left their yellowed plastic toy in direct sun for a year, and it turned back to white. :freak:

I have 3 or 4 of those Havoline T-Birds and only one is white. The rest all got attacked by UV. It's caused by Flourescent lights attacking the plastic. Have no idea how to remove it because it is absorbed into the plastic. :drunk: What about Bleche Wite tire cleaner?
