In the continuing effort to correct Rudy's ignorance regarding any and all things electrical, I have a question regarding the wiring of common three post driver's stations.

I have read several suggestions on how the power wiring can be attached to the posts. But without exception, there is never any mention of insulation between the parts that are electrified and the shelf material upon which the stations are being installed, which I would think 99.9% of the time is wood.

Am I understanding this correctly? Is this safe? How is it that metals carrying electrical flow can safely be in direct contact with a flammable material without any type of insulation being used? Or am I missing something?

Flammable is not the issue - conductivity is. Wood is an insulator, as is plastic.

Hmmm, this turned out just as bad as Elliot S. proclaiming "rabbit release" to be the problem.

Thanks, Scaf.

PS I love the video.
