View Full Version : 1/32 scale rally?

A few weeks ago I posted a topic asking about 1/32nd scale digital cars, and you guys all came out with great advice. A few days after I posted that certain economic conditions in my life turned upside down. I was pretty much left with nowhere to live except a house that had been emptied by a soon to be ex-wife and and trying to deal with frozen bank accounts and cancelled credit cards. While I'm still waiting for an accident settlement to come through that won't be for months at the soonest, more like a year or more realistically, and up until this last week I only had a part time job. Things are changing but they never change fast enough.

With that said I recently sold an HO scale Empire that took me almost 25 years to build. The buyer is an upstanding resin caster and HO racer, so I know all of it is in good hands, and someday it will be rebuilt. One of my better friends who I raced HO with has now given me a nice load of 1/32 scale track and a few cars to cure the slot car withdrawls when they come, and as I said in my original digital information string, I know nothing about these cars.

The track is SCX and is in pretty good shape. There's maybe 40-50 running feet, some crossovers, a chicane and turns of various diameters. There is a Rally start track that consists of a platform that merges into the track and two single lane loops that turn a two lane track into a single lane looping course. I got a powerpack, a hand controller and 4 cars, two sports cars, an F1 car and a rally car. All of them have been raced and dinged a bit but look great.

What I'm asking now is for anyone who has had experience with this Rally type of racing before. I watch WRC when it's on, and I know a little about how things happen, but have any of you had organized slot car rally events? The idea of setting up temporary courses fits my immediate future living arrangements as I can't dedicate space to a slot car layout of any size. I'm just interested in how someone could organize these types of events for fellow racers, and for information on which cars are best for rally racing.

Wow. I guess I'm the first. OK then, you guys get to hear all about how I try to develop temporary course rallying into a legit form of slot car racing.

Hey Pete,

I hate redirecting you away from Hobby Talk, but the 1/32nd crowd is rather light here. SCI (Slot Car Illustrated) seems to have a lot more people that may be able to give you some input on this subject.

I run 1/32nd, predominantly, but just have zero experience with SCX and/or the Rally Car stuff. Wish I could be of more help here for you.

Pete,

Same here. I have never been to a Rally event so I didn't respond. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Ninco makes an adapter track that connects Ninco to SCX track. So you will have a wide variety of track pieces to choose from.

Best regards,
Brian

That's right! I just saw you up on there - cool deal! You are welcome - just sorry it was of little help other than a redirect.

You are welcome!
