k-mart got in 24 indy pace cars. over half had the production # "2007", and appeared some were the exact same car with the same #.. 15 cars with 2007 on the bottom as the P.N. to be exact. and another one was 4957. didn't know they went that high. also strange so many 2007's in one group, and not to good to have the same car with duplicate production numbers.. no green machines.
i question what's going on here.

I am by no means an expert on this but I believe the 2007 refers to the year the car was produced and the other number is the chassis serial number. I too have seen several cars with the 2007 number next to the chassis serial number.

Yes, of course. The 2007 indicates the year of release. Open the package; there is nothing going on other than you did not look closely. Look carefully. You'll find the serial number on the baseplate for the Oldsmobiles, Chrysler and Dodge. I have not seen the Corvettes, but if you have them and don't see the serial number on the baseplate you can look for a number on the underside of the hood. All have serial numbers and the individual model number is, except for one model only of each of the six releases, not the # 2007. - ranchero -
sorry, this was the only number on the bottom of the cars. in the same position as other greenlights i have, and all the other cars on the pegs. it was the production number, or else they had no production number, if what you say is true. and if not, why were all the other 9 numbered differently in the same exact place as the ones with "2007"?, one as low as 0137, and the one in the 4957 if i remember right. these 15 cars were definitely numbered 2007 as the production number. no other cars other than these 15 had 2007. i've seen enough and bought enough to know where and what the production number is on these. something is not right with there production and distribution.
i saw 24 at target all with different numbers (i opened the cases), and 33 at toysrus all with different numbers. the production numbers on the bottom in the same place as these at k-mart, and none had "2007" on the bottom.
something was done wrong in this shipment. so, i'll question greenlights quality control and real production numbers for sure. there were definitely duplicate numbers of the same car.

I believe that the "2007" has only appeared on the Pace Cars. That may be wrong. I also believe that you will see that the "2007" appears in an entirely different script than that used for the production number - a more solid, permanent one. The Production number rather is done in a style that lends itself to changing with each consecutive number - like an old dot matrix printer.

I could have sworn I saw 9000 on that multi colored peace chevy, might have been 6000  Did they do that many?

I picked up a couple pace cars and they had production numbers on the bottom and they weren't 2007.

Same here. Only 1 number on each of the pace car corvettes I have and they are production numbers. I remember when I saw them, I looked through them trying to get the lowest numbers I could and non of them had more than 1 number printed on the bottom and none of them had 2007 anywhere on them..

The Barrett Jackson Rainbow Chevy is 10,000 made.
That means 200 GM's for each of the six cars.
