View Full Version : SK's at the Birds in 08' Jesse Bean 08-24-2007, 03:21 PM who's for sk's at the birds this year? ovalmaster 08-24-2007, 10:17 PM I am definately in for this class. Straight-foward open wheeled chassis.......whoaaaa!!!!!!!. Running these babies at the birds would be a blast! Antonio Jesse Bean 08-25-2007, 08:55 AM 53.57% yes to sk's YEAH! C'MON! Jesse Bean 08-26-2007, 10:37 AM dirt cars are made to run on dirt...........lol. SK'S IN O8' jbm38 08-26-2007, 10:45 AM SKs' do represent the history and grass roots of the oval scene. Well in NASCAR touring series anyway yet just don't get the coverage they deserve... omnis85 08-26-2007, 09:40 PM there is a lot of history of the r/c sk cars aswell, most just dont know about it because its origin of history was and still here in ct. J-Dub Racing 08-27-2007, 01:31 PM My opinion is the following classes... Spec Truck (Arcor style) SK (Stock) 1/10th Stock 19 Turn 1 class 13.5 10.5/4300 Open Mod...Run whatever brushed or brushless. Touring cars are made to go right and left, so replace with spec trucks. The "Salvas" I mean sprint class is kinda boring. Replace that with SK class. I am sure you will pull in a lot more people with those classes. For the most part local tracks dont run touring oval or sprints. If they do I am sure their turnout is far less than the north east's SK class. Just my 2 cents! Joel RCThunder 08-27-2007, 01:40 PM Thanks for all the interest in new classes. We are working behind the scenes for the class line-up. Whatever happens, the goal are classes with 20+ entries at least... So far the thinking is: 1/12th 19T 27T stock Brushless 13.5 19T mod Brushless 10.5 Open mod Then a couple 'expo' style class (Sprint, SKs, Touring Truck) 6cell mod might be gone. The goal was to have a class with all the top oval racers but last year we had a hard time making a big field with many top dogs skipping it. 4cell mod may become the top class, and large field of talent. I prefer to have 1 4cell mod class, brushed and brushless together. Some want it split. We have not made a decision yet. We had a great mod race this weekend and brushless TQ'ed with Eric Anderson and Donny Logan won with brushed - both fair and square. It would bring a huge class and a true inner battle with brushed guys vs brushless guys. Anything goes kind of thinking... but time will tell. Masters in brushed only so will see how that goes and turnout. More and more races are mixing them. Touring allows both and brushed wins 9 out of 10 times. More soon. Oval is going strong. That is great! rickster58 08-27-2007, 02:23 PM dirt cars are made to run on dirt...........lol. SK'S IN O8' Just for clarification, SK's never ran on dirt. They are a lower cost version of the the NASCAR modifieds. omnis85 08-27-2007, 03:05 PM Just for clarification, SK's never ran on dirt. They are a lower cost version of the the NASCAR modifieds. you sure about that? Larry B 08-27-2007, 03:15 PM Not sure yet if i will be able to make it this year. But I would run the SK mod class as a second class with 13.5. A hand out spec battery would give the class a even palying field. Or just a spec battery rule. No need to try and find the .001 volte 4200 battery pack. This class should be the extra class for someone to run that may only have been running one class. davepull 08-27-2007, 05:07 PM Not sure yet if i will be able to make it this year. Larry B 08-27-2007, 06:11 PM Dave, it is not getting beat by batteries, it is just to control cost. I know as well as you what makes a car fast. With a hand -out battery a racer will need all the good car set-up driving skills they know. There is always the preception that some people get better equipment because of who they know, but they may not know thoes people if they were not good in the first place. Besides, I would not want to have to chose which class to run my best 4200 pack in the A-main. LOL I am just pushing this class because it will be a big class at the local track this winter. Both spec motor and battery are the rule. There-fore, I would already have most of what I would need. I do belive I am not the only racer lobbing for what they like. Just look at all the post here. It is what we do. LOL jmcdo28 08-27-2007, 10:12 PM im all for arcor style spec truck, these are real popular in the southeast... carpet and outdoor. Jesse Bean 08-28-2007, 09:55 AM keep spec at the local track. you don't go to the birds to save money. besides being a cheap class to participate in, it is an entry level class. For beginners..... Can't wait to see tyler mckinney wear out some more twenty year veterans in that class. trinity does a horrible job of QA on those spec packs and you do get beat by batteries in that class. when i ran that class a month ago at thunder road... the same car that finished third almost a lap down, two weeks later dominated and checked out all because of batteries. car didn't change. I found a battery with sixty seconds longer runtime that must be four years old. it's stuff like this why people dominate that class and people giv'em hell b/c they think they're cheating. motors come off the shelf already with avanced timing and some times they are retarded just as much. the biggest topic of discussion at the nats was cheating in spec.... never heard of it once in stock. donnie did a great job with the handouts and checked each are before it went back in the box for the drivers. It takes that to keep it fair when you have a spec requirement for motors and batteries. spec needs to be handout motor and battery if it's at the birds....let's see the tech guys cycle spec batteries and try to keep them consistant. then let's see who raises to the top of spec. Jesse Bean 08-28-2007, 10:00 AM sk's .... same motor /battery rules as the 1/10 stock pancars. SK vote so far....sk's up 59.68% over dirt cars. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
