View Full Version : 1948 Cadillac Series 62 Dynamic Fast Back Coupe
STUTZ 08-23-2007, 01:07 PM Model 40 made by Brooklin, the 1948 Cadillac Series 62 Dynamic Fast Back Coupe. The color is a very dark blue, that it appears to be black, unless in bright light.

Lummox 08-23-2007, 01:21 PM The '48 Cad is one of my all-time favorites.
I thought Cadillac called their fast -back the Sedanette.
It doesn't say that anywhere?
The hubcaps look great ~ nice realistic touch.
Thanks for the pic!

Nope, doesen't say that anywhere lummox. I copied the information that was on the base of the model (but that doesn't mean it's right ).
Lummox, when I look at this model I think of the Caddy used in "Back To The Future". I can't remember what year Caddy was used in the movie. Is it similar to this model?
Lummox 08-23-2007, 02:03 PM Believe it or not, I've never seen that movie!
Is there a I and a II ?

Wow, that is hard to believe! It's on TV a lot. There is a "Back To The Future", "Back To The Future II", and "Back To The Future III".
I found a pic of the Caddy used in "Back To The Future" on the internet. It is a 1948 Cadillac Series 61. I don't know what the difference is between a Series 61 and a Series 62. Now it's your job to watch "Back To The Future" lummox! :p

nice machine ......... i think the only difference between a series 61 and 62
was the 62 cost more because it had a little more chrome but same car
STUTZ 08-23-2007, 05:48 PM Thanks Jim. I'm not a Caddy man, so if lummox doesn't reply with an answer, I may have to search the internet for an answer.
MattGTO 08-23-2007, 11:13 PM BTTF is one of my all-time favorite movies...especially the first one, the third one was great and the second one sucked.

It's one of my favorite movies too! Funny, but you weren't born when the movie was made in 1985, and you like it, but lummox has never seen "Back To The Future" and it seems like it's on some TV stations a few times a month.
Lummox is just too busy making custom diecast cars! :p
Lummox 08-24-2007, 01:46 PM Hey guys
Big Jim is right, series 62 had a little more chrome some years and would come standard with power windows etc.
The series 61 was kind of the succesor to the La Salle, bare-bones ~ for a Cadillac.
1950 was the last year for the s-61.
It was replaced by the plane Series 62 as the lowest price Cad.
But the Coupe/Sedan DeVille was a part of the 62 series.
So in '48 the line-up was this;
Series 61
Series 62
60 Series (Sixty-Special, later the Fleetwood)
75 Series (Limo)
Commercial Series 75 which had a longer chassis than the limo and was sold
as a chassis and the nose to coachbuilders for hearses & ambulances, etc.
Later somewhere around 1965 the plain series 62 ( no name on the car other than "Cadillac")
was replaced by the 62 series "Caiais"

Thanks for the research Lummox.
Here's a pic of the only 1/43 scale Cadillac Series 75 limo that I have.

Lummox 08-24-2007, 02:05 PM Ah yes, a '58 Caddy.
That was the year of my first Cadillac, a Sedan DeVille.
It was also my very first car. I got it when I was 14 for $75.
It was all rotted to hell but that's how I learned to do rust repair and am still doing it to this day.

Did you start working on 1:1 cars before working on 1:64 scale cars?
Lummox 08-24-2007, 02:23 PM Well I was building models since before I can remember.
Occasionally re-doing an old Matchbox.
Yeah I did even do a few customs in my pre-teens ~ here's a hearse i made from the MB ambulance when I was 12. Still have others I made as well.
