I can't stress enough what an incredible event this is turning into!!! We will be handing out tons of race prizes from more than 20 Manufacturers/Sponsors to be given away at both events-so much that it would be worth the entry fee just to be eligible for the prizes!!! Be sure to come out for some great racing and great prizes!!!

...And possibly a guest appearance/autograph signing from a guy we all recognize from racing big race cars as well as R/C...stay tuned...

The night prior to the race at each location will feature free, organized practice from 6-9 PM; in lieu of the previously announced chargeable race format.
This will give you more track time and further the amazing value this weekend holds.

I've been getting questions regarding Friday night.
Please see the previous post for the series schedule; with one side note:

As I understand it Master Hobby in Fultonville will open for hot laps and curiosity seekers alike; but they will not be able to have a race format nor timing and scoring as we need to get ready for the big weekend in Albany

Please pay them a visit on your way in from the west.

See Ya ................ At The Tracks

Are we running Losi Sliders ? and what is the format for specs? Batts?

John

John
As a Club event we will run any electric class that has 4 entries and has the proper tires. Sliders are also to new to have rules established; but I will say they need to be "near box stock" condition to compete.

Added as Edit
As a Slider neophyte; I'll say similar battery, motor Hp set-up with stock wing, body panels and tires. I know some drivers have been having hung brush issues with the stock set-up and have been replacing motors with equivalent non-Losi parts and want that to be OK; but not mod motors with lypos!

Fox 23 FastTrack

(the Albany Fox Network affliate locally produced Racing Round-up TV Show and also available at http://www.fox23news.com/)

will be at the Pine Bowl Sunday shooting coverage and Fast Ed himself will be taking interviews for airing on that same night at 10:30.

It's about time! I've sent Rich Becker and Scott Morlock numerous emails to try to get them out to our tracks-as far back as last year's WDRA Series race so they could tape their "behind-the-scenes" reporter Fast Eddie at the wheel-

Glad to hear they will finally make it-

Losi Slider Class Suggestion:

Since we just started running them and don't have enough experience with them yet, I think we should just run them out of the box, no aftermarket batteries, electronics, motors, parts, etc; (maybe allow gearing/pinion changes if the stock gearing is too much for the Pine Bowl.)

I was able to get Keith Harris' mount around with the stock tires, springs etc;
I think we should run a "Stock" class with all box stock components, but if we get 4 or more that have been modified, offer a 2nd "Modified" class.

Everyone has the abilityand equipment to run these "box stock" since that is how they come int he box.

Like I said, just a suggestion... any thoughts?

johnqpublic

Another Slider class sugestion:

Don't let me forget, but we need to get these on the TV show and stress that you can get started with one of these for 180 bucks! Does anyone have one that Fast Eddie could try out or maybe even race?

KirtC
09-25-2007, 03:44 PM
Hi Paul

On a similar thought, I'd like to have Fast Ed get a car or two to put on camera in front of the hosts like they do all year; 1/10 scale would be better for that purpose

Kirt,
Ed's ride will be done up with #23 and the Fox Fast Track logo (thanks to Jeff at Vinyltrix). I'd be more than happy to leave it behind for that purpose.

SLIDERS........"OUT OF THE BOX STOCK"----Batteries (1100) , Tires (RUBBER) , Motors and brushes , Shocks and Springs , Tie Rods and ball ends , Ball cups , Sprint car body with wings and most important "RADIOS"

ANY CHANGE TO "BOX STOCK " IS A MODIFICATION

If it is to be were anyone can buy one off the shelf and be able to race it WITHOUT buying anything extra they should stay 100% "OUT OF THE BOX STOCK"

I just confirmed with the WDRA officials, two heats as they do with all their events these days.

However, in an attempt to compensate, we are having 4 hours of practice each day with the timing and scoring system running so you'll be able to get lap times to help you get tuned in.

Kirt , Todd P. and anyone else involved... What more can anyone say you guys did a great job. Everything ran smoothly the tracks were GREAT and the door prizes WOW!

Hopefully this will be a annual two day event from now on instead of two separate days.

Kirt, Todd, and CDRC Racers:
Thanks for everything this weekend! You do a great job with running the show on raceday, taking care of the tracks, teching, getting TONS of door prizes, and the great event promotion!

It had been several years since I'd been to the track at Competition Hobbies, and I just have to say WOW! I'm very impressed with all of the improvments from the track to the driver's stand to the facility itself. You guys deserve a giant pat on the back. Can't forget Howie & Ollie with the shop & great food either!

Thanks for the kind words, Big Mike. I really couldn't do the series without the great people from the tracks and the great group of racers who come out and support it. Those are the people who really make it tick...I just make a schedule & some rules...and try to race.

I really enjoy getting to see some old friends on the Capital District swings. I'd love to see a few more of the Albany area guys get out on the road with us, its a really great time and racing with the best drivers in the northeast really improves your "game" when you come back home.

I've found that the double header weekends are tough for the guys who follow the tour, myself included. I know that I'm going to have to cut a few races next year, as I think I want to go with the "less is more" theory, and maybe I can get some more guys to follow it....plus the Mrs. and I are expecting our first in the spring, so who knows how much time I'll have!

We still have 2 more races left for '07 on Oct 20th & 21st at Newville & Bumps & Jumps, both in the Harrisburg, PA area. I've never been to Newville (they are primarily a nitro track), but I hear its really nice, and Bumps is the premier indoor dirt oval in the northeast. You guys are more than welcome to come down....we'd love to have ya!

Wow, what a great weekend! Perfect weather and a great crowd made the CD R/C Racers & WDRA Short Track Smackdown a huge success-

We owe a "Big Thanks" to many who made these events a success:

-First and foremost, to the Capital District R/C Racers led by Kirt Coonradt. Without the tireless efforts of Kirt and the CD R/C club, none of this would happen.

-Paul Brauer and the WDRA crew...(which is Paul?!?)

-Howie, Ollie and the Competition Hobby and Deli Crew

-All of our competitors who attended the event-Thanks!

-Our Event Partners and Sponsors:

-Capital District R/C Racers
-Putnam Propulsion
-Hunter's CarStar / Dave Loughead
-Horizon Hobby / Spektrum
-Associated
-RC4Less
-Windtunnel
-TQ Cells
-BSR Tires
-JBR Cells
-Whiplash Cells
-Competition Hobby
-SVL
-Sign Here
-Fred's Fab-N-Fold
-Custom Works

-Support these companies, as they support our racing in donating over $3000 worth of race prizes...

Random Ramblings:

-The Smackdown drew 114 entries for the two days, representing 6 States and Canada.

-Hard Luck Award goes to Dave Loughead who woke up at the crack of dawn to make the trek up from PA, only to realize that his Saturn/Street Car had been stolen the night before!!! And he was still at the event in a rental car- Unbelievable! (has anyone checked Jake's driveway?!?)

-Long Haul Award goes to Ken Miller and his wife, who traveled 8+ hours from Ohio.

-Thanks to the GMX guys for making the trek up from CT, MA, and NJ.

-Thanks to Eric "LaLaLou" Salvas for coming down from Canada.

-The Competition Deli girls were on hand early Saturday morning serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout Saturday's event.

-Jay Biondi smoked and served some venison for everyone on Sunday-gratus-and it was good!

-Thanks to Brad for his annual Pine Bowl concession stand.

-How awesome were the Pine Bowl Speedway signs painted by Sam Leary's Mom-Nan, of Sign Here...too cool-

-Thanks to Kirt and his wife for allowing us to invade their yard once again this year.

-Nice Job to Bob Hollner on his second place finish in EDM Mod on Saturday-considering it was a borrowed motor and the first time in his life he ever raced mod-and he was the only other car to finish on the lead lap with the winner.

-Having R/C racing covered on TV is too cool.

-Sydney is seeking syndication proceeds for her TV appearance in the event of future re-runs.

-I wish we had more of our 50+ weekly entries attend the race-

-It was good to see Big Mike and Amanda Johnson come down to race, and provide a helmet ride for Jason Nick. For those who may be unaware, The Johnson's host dirt oval racing in their yard on Saturday nights, complete with lights, scoring and a concession stand..

-I was the only TQ that forfeited his pole starting spot to start scratch in either event, in an attempt to claim the additional $100 bonus. I ended up 2nd behind Dan Gill...maybe they knew something I didn't?!?

-Dan Gill claimed the 3 WDRA A-Main Win "Loughead Lock-N-Load" $200 Bonus. Cha-Ching!!!!

-Thanks to Bret Lund for lending me his hat during the Saturday A-Mains- I needed a tinted shield with that sun!

-Great job by Sam Leary making the Mod show on Sunday, again, in his first ever attempt-

-Solly makes me laugh atleast 5 times a day.

-It was great to see terry Schmitt back on tour-

-If WDRA had a concourse, Dan Gill would have won that too-

-Local Dirt Oval Talent Pete Dagnolo was missing-he was in Las Vegas running the IIC On Road race where he qualified 2nd/finished 2nd in the 1/12th Stock A-Main! Awesome job for an oval wheel-

-I missed Fred.

-This was the first race(s) I got to compete in with the production 2008 Putnam Pro-Car. TQ andNew Track Records both days in Stock and the EDM Mod win on Saturday really pleased me. Some locals questioned me early why I would park the prototype car I've done so well with for our biggest race of the year, in order to run the new Production ride...now they understand!!!

-Thanks to all who attended and supported-seeya at the next one...
