are thes numbers for 4 cell spec packs.ok good or bad....................................on one i got capacity 1541..volts 7.683..on the other one i got capacity 2074..volts 7.588

What are your run times--longer run time better. Volts look good. If this is about your 4th cycle they are good.

On the 4-cell 1600 packs, I usually get 2200-2400 into the pack at 5A charge. Once the pack drops below about 1800, I set it aside as a practice pack personally. I bulb discharge mine after each race and bring them back up either on a turbo 35 or an ice and they last at least a season or more before becoming practice packs.

Those are good voltage numbers for a 4-cell pack and I'm sure if you zero out that lower capacity one and cycle it once or twice you would get a higher number.

LOL!!!

the last race i was at mine only charged up to 1473... thats a race pack.

for reliable numbers you wanna cycle the pack on a turbo 35 or any charger that can give you the right readings. either that or sit down and record the voltages during the discharge cycle every 30 seconds or so untill you get to 240 seconds or 4 minutes. personally, i don't have the time or the desire to do that so i just work on my car ;)

If you had an GFX you can look at all the numbers at once, evan the discharge voltage.

My numbers above are accurate from a Turbo 35 and an Ice. I wasn't exagerating that I get 2200-2400 into a spec pack when it's new and continue to get 1800+ through an entire season. If you want exact, I keep a log at the house of cycle numbers from the turbo.

Yes, the 4-cell version that I run in Legends.

A new pack cycled once or twice and discharged after every run should take an average of 2200mAh at a 4A charge. I have 9 packs total and out of those 9, I probably still have 4 that still take over 2000 each and they are all over 6 months old at this point. I'd have to look at my log book to see what the average voltage is. I charge at 5A or 6A depending on the race for my mains packs only because I want the punch more than the runtime on those packs. My heat packs I still charge at 4A with a .05 cutoff. I will also "flex" or pulse charge them when they are new for the first few charges. Not sure if that makes a difference, but it's just a habbit.

NiCd's take more punishment than a NiMh and when treated right will do you well for a long time. I still have a few 6-cell 2000 Sanyo NiCd packs that run strong. They just don't have the high capacity ability of a NiMh which is one of the reasons the industry moved away from them.

I wasn't trying to mislead anyone and I appologize if it looked that way...I was quoting an honest range from my experience. I can't imagine that both of my chargers would give me false numbers.

Ow no I wasnt saying that you dont get that much mah out of your packs, im getting damn near 3000 mah at 7v's. I pm'ed him my own numbers. Thats what I ment. =)

No biggie...was just responding to the general disbelief of getting that much juice into a 1600 nicd pack. I guess I didn't mean to address you directly like that. Sorry :)
