View Full Version : Team Losi Sliders
jonnycash 08-19-2007, 09:49 PM These little sprint cars are catching on quick where I race at GMX in CT. We have agreed to leave them bone stock with the only exceptions being spring/shock changes, gearing and the 1400mah batts. Everything else must remain stock, so for right around $200 someone with no r/c equipment can get into racing and be as fast as the rest of them. I see Speedzone has also done something similar. I think this is going to be a big shot in the arm for oval racing. Hopefully we will see some new faces at the tracks again.
omnis85 08-19-2007, 10:18 PM with you there no chance, lol. all kidding aside these things look cool, I have got to get one.
jonnycash 08-20-2007, 11:25 PM Maybe we can continue the slider racing on the carpet this winter.
RCThunder 08-21-2007, 12:13 PM Got one of the cars from my local shop... heres cool videos from our local track last weekend:

speed321 08-21-2007, 12:18 PM Here is a link to the thread we started on the sliders:
http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=193307
These things are a blast!!!
Are there any aftermarket wheels/tires for these cars? Or does Losi make some additional wheel tire combos? Can you get foams etc. .....?
speed321 08-21-2007, 02:36 PM You can use BSR Foams for the Mini-T. Part #B4000, This has Front & Rear Mounted Foams.
So wheels made to fit the Mni-T will fit the Slider.....cool.
KenBajdek 08-21-2007, 04:35 PM We have also adopted these little sprints Pete Russell's in Elkhart, In . Box stock only no changes. We are trying to make them work with the stock tires. I'm not convinced they will work when the track gets sticky but we will see. We haven't set the rules for the fall racing season. We would like to keep them as cheap as possible.
The mini truck classes got ruined with high dollar chassis parts, BL motors and all of the other hop ups. This was to be a beginner class and it is now too much for the new racer to start with.

We are running them on the dirt oval with the original tires. They work great, but I think a foam may be needed for carpet... we will see. Right now the only upgrades you are allowed is aluminum shocks, gear changes and the turnbuckles and ball cups.
katf1sh 08-23-2007, 05:21 PM i think they are super cool,as long as we keep the stock. it may very well hook some younger races for once!
NASCR3 08-24-2007, 11:46 PM We will be adding these awesome little hot rods to the card at Racing City Hobbies in Glens Falls NY this winter on the carpet. We are going to run them as "out of the box stock" as possible, radio gear and all. The only change we might make is a switch from the treaded rubber tires to foams. We are going to try the rubber tires first & see if they build up traction compuond or not, causing them to traction roll. Keep an eye on the 2007-2008 RCH thread in oval track discussion for the latest info.

Big_Mike 08-25-2007, 08:11 AM I just bought Three Losi Sliders. Can I charge these batteries with my Pulsar 2 battery chargers????????? And where can I buy Batteries and Parts for them. I'am looking for more batteries,Clear bodies,Tires etc. etc.
Thanks Big Mike
jonnycash 08-25-2007, 08:42 AM You can charge them with the pulsar. I charge at 2.5 amps. I'm not sure what they are supposed to be charged at, but it seems to work for me.
speed321 08-25-2007, 10:16 AM Most of the guys here are charging @ 1.5.
Big_Mike 08-26-2007, 10:12 PM Where can i get parts for these mini sprinters can anyone help

RCThunder 09-01-2007, 05:10 PM Got a short video of the Sliders racing on carpet on the main page of Thunder:
http://www.rcthunder.net newwindow]www.rcthunder.net
KenBajdek 09-03-2007, 10:18 PM RC Thunder, How are you getting that much speed in those stock? They look like they are flying around there. Traction rolling and lifting the LR are the major issues here on carpet. We can't change anything but shock oil and paint. Rubber tires suck on carpet.
RCThunder 09-03-2007, 10:34 PM We never ran them on carpet before.. that was the 1st shot. Everyone in that video was box stock for tires and parts (1 of the yellow one had a brushless but it didn't look much bigger than the other stock ones). Maybe the video makes them seem faster.... Here is are 3 cool video of mine right out of the box on our short asphalt oval:

philb1 09-05-2007, 07:42 AM Have only got two runs with mine on carpet, no traction rolling, moved rear shocks out all the way and added an orange spring from the mini-T set on the right front. Also super glue on RF tire sidewall and outside row of tread.
KenBajdek 09-05-2007, 08:43 AM I have glue on the RF sidewall but we can't change springs. I will try the rear shocks moved out and the glue on the outside tread. Thanks
Turn4RC 11-11-2007, 05:54 PM We'd love to try these on our carpet banked oval! Anyone interested in getting a class started?? Let us know! We're offereing $5 1/18 scale racing on Thursday nights. But if another day would be better, let us know, we can make adjustments! We just really want to get this class started!!
MIDWESTRC 11-11-2007, 10:44 PM Triclone has been running the Sliders also on the carpet. The only thing you are allowed to change is gears, springs, and shocks. You can use 1400 mah batteries. But they run the rubber tires on the carpet, seems like once you get it to work those things really haul. left fronts never touch the carpet the whole 4 minutes !!!!!!! We have had pretty good turnouts for the class so far.
Team21 11-27-2007, 12:09 PM I own a small 70 ft. bullring clay oval track in Catskill NY, I bought 4 sliders to play with. I want to keep these box stock, but feel I may need to change the gearing. Out of the box what size track and how many min heats are expected ? Who sells the 1400's batt's ? Any set up sheets for a track sim to this ?
These are Great fun and really adjustable cars. I only hope that like in the past the cost of doing upgrades doesn't drive them into who can spend the most to go the fastest type of competition. Keep it simple . Use your mind and what you get right out of the box to make them work, I know it's possible. Great new LOSI product to keep RC alive at an affordable price.

Cool to see how the wing holds down the lr in your third video.
Just wondering how the tiny suspension parts hold up to crashes.
thanks

I've run a very little carpet bull ring acouple times but have been running foams, anyway I would think if you would get the 3 gear pinion set from losi you could get geared pretty close Its a 12 14 and 17 which is the gear that comes with it which would prob work. We have to run 1100 packs and have been making 5 minute heats without a problem.
Team21 11-28-2007, 02:43 PM SDL
Thanks for the help, I'll have to pick up a gear set and play.

bigemike 11-28-2007, 05:16 PM We are having about 10 guys consistently turning out to run these on saturday, with ours you can change shock oil only, and then any adjustment that you want to the suspension and what not, but if it didn't com in the box you can't run it. We are superglueing or taping the right front to settle it down, but they do look cool, and they are fast.

Not to "nitpick", but the pinion 3-pack contains 12, 14, and 16 tooth pinions. You are correct that the Slider comes with a 17 tooth pinion, but it must be purchased separately -- it is NOT in the 3-pack...
SDL98 11-29-2007, 08:42 PM Guess I never counted the bigger gear just went by what they told me
EMK68 11-30-2007, 04:52 PM What are you guys charging at on a GFX charger amp wise? These are the
stock 1100 mah packs.
Thank's Eric Knapp
huffrcman 11-30-2007, 08:34 PM Charge at 1.2-1.5 amps.Pack will be strong the whole run.
EMK68 11-30-2007, 10:25 PM Great
Thank's alot
KenBajdek 03-16-2008, 12:59 PM Anyone looking to get a lot of exposure for these Sliders come out to Notre Dame in South Bend, IN at the Cavalcade of Wheels car show. We will be there with the Losi Sliders on Sunday March 30th. The feature event will be the 1/10 Winged Outlaw Sprint Cars with 6 cell 10.5 BL. We will have pan cars with 13.5, 17.5 and for those who have yet to switch to BL you can race 27t with 17.5.
JSTUBBS 03-19-2008, 02:37 PM I have two sliders with latemodle bodies on them. Other than that they are stock except the losi ball diff. in one. And I have tones of extra parts. Diffs, alluminum a arms, Carbon fiber chasis, New Mamba 8000 brushless system, 5 duratrax 1400 batteries w/deans plugs, tools, 2 vision peak chargers, 4 pr. trinity slicks, new bearings, and more..... If you are interested I will make you a heck of a deal.

This is in the wrong post. You should probably move this to the offroad or oval swap and sell. I think more people will see this.
Kris Pisarcik 08-23-2008, 09:36 PM We are running them on the dirt oval with the original tires. They work great, but I think a foam may be needed for carpet... we will see. Right now the only upgrades you are allowed is aluminum shocks, gear changes and the turnbuckles and ball cups.
What kind of aftermarket turnbuckles/ball cups are you using, and where can we get them, my father is having problems with the stock ball cups?
Thank you, Kris
reggie's dad 08-24-2008, 03:08 PM Probably the hottest thing since sliced bread, we have been racing the slider and now the late model, stock for over a year and get almost 24 racers every tues nite, thats in the summer when they run every other week, notice 24 racers, some of these guys run sliders and late mods each nite, everything from ex racers to newbies, and all smiling at the end of the nite. Keeping them mostly stock seems to be the key, only 1500 batts and gears are allowed I think, the drivers also wrap vinyl/elec tape on the rf to take away the traction roll, foams would be the answer but tires and a cutter would up the price.
Integy makes aftermarket turnbuckles and ball cups for Mini-T/Slider/Mini Late Model.
Kris Pisarcik 08-25-2008, 09:16 PM Thanks Matt I'll check into that!
Thanks again,Kris
xcriswell3x 09-07-2008, 02:16 PM just picked up the late model slider. i am new to rc and wanted to pick up some extra batteries. anyone have any to recommend? i'd like to try racing. there is a local track racing these stock and the rules allow for up to 1400mAh pack. i wanted to make sure some of the packs i've found online are compatible...didn't know if there are different connectors for different companies. thanks for the help.
btw...will these work:

nutz4rc 09-07-2008, 02:33 PM This is the only battery I use. I do have my whole system converted to Deans plugs but that isn't necessary. The stock plugs will work.

the duratrax 1400s?
nutz4rc 09-12-2008, 09:35 PM Yes, the Duratrax 1400. I have had one pack lose performance out of eight in use over 3 months.
