You mean I dont have to drive all the way to red neck, bumps and jumps, radio hill, etc. THATS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE! Is this a real track or somebodys back yard? do you use transponders? does someone sell parts at the track?

It is a top rate facility. Fully stocked hobby shop, transponders, banked clay oval, and a seperate off road. Nice pit area with power, and a small carpet track inside. There is also a pizza restaraunt upstairs. Doesn't get much better than that

is there going to be any rules to this class or is it giong to be an all out whose got the most upgrades style. We already have one pour your money into it class do we need another one. Just lookin out for the little guy who might want to start out simple and run something out of the box or at least close to it.

Please chime in with your opnions, like I know you will.

I think box stock except for gear and tires, maybe upgrading tie rods to the better one for durabilty. my 43 cents. Maybe in time if the class grows well, adding a second class, maybe a true Mod class-anything goes

I hope It stays stock! I used to race mini z's but when the cars went from $129.95 RTR with radio, to over $500.00 plus just for the car , It was no fun any more and no new racers got involved. These little sprint cars look real cool , It would be a great 2nd class for me!

Talked with john today and he said that it will be stock out of the box motors and gear with maybe down one or 2 teeth be cause of heat .At yesterdays R/C Driver test they burned up a motor and melted down the cover on the gear . He is not going to put rules on anything like turnbuckels if you want to change them you can also the same with shocks . should be fun still also you can upgrade the batts to 1400 s . You want to know any moore about this class call him at the stores

I most likely wont get into the sliders romo,if I was to spend that much money it would go into the oval car.
Thank for the complement. I think the win had to do more with the new Putnam motor I bought. (its alright dont worry about the baby he'll be able to eat again next week). I almost lost it though I put a 1/8 shim in the rf to compensate for the extra power, but when the batt.dropped off 3 min in you saw I had that push. Live and learn, next week it will be a 1/16.
Thanks everyone for a great race.

Todd did you run your batteries where your chassis was designed for or did you have to tape a few cells to the right side to make it work? If so you need REAR MOTOR CAR!!

Bonzai: Do you mean originally designed for or its current design? I had a prototype chassis with me to test as our new chassis plates have additional cell slots on the right side. This reduces left-side bias to increase turn-in, which helps on low bite tracks as well as small radius-turn tracks, such as GMX. The increased rear percentage can also help forward drive in these scenarios as well. Many of our customers in places like Texas and Arizona run these cars on loose, sandy tracks with offroad tires, and the new right side cell locations will really help in those applications.

At GMX's trophy race, I ran with all 6 cells on the left side as well as 4 on the left and 2 on the right, so I could test the differences. As far as my on-track results at GMX, I ran 55 lap TQ runs with both configurations-which was 1-2 laps faster than the 2nd place qualified rear motor car at that time-so I guess it worked well either way.

In qualifying, my car wasn't very aggressive on entry but had so much forward drive off the corner, it was super easy to drive and really consistent, especially when moving around the track getting through lapped traffic.

If you want a good comparison between how each configuration drives, talk to Dale Coty-he drove my car-and I'm sure he'll give you his opinion on how both drove.

My point is you don't need a rear motor car to have a car that drives like a Cadillac and is still fast enough to win...I'm not opposed to rear motor, as our Terminator based Pro-Car offers the option of running the motor either rear or mid. I was just offering suggestions on what I used to be pretty fast at your track...

Dirtydrc
08-22-2007, 02:42 PM
Yep. Before I drove Todd's car, I was pretty sure that mid-motor was not the way to go at our track (because I have driven other people's mid motor cars and they were scary loose no matter what they did).

Todd's was pretty good.

That being said, I am keeping my GBX set-up as rear engine because there are some nights where the bite is less, and I generally have problems getting out of the corner. I seem to think the speed controller is an on/off switch.

darrel
08-22-2007, 04:49 PM
last sat the track was slippery with a very fine powder nobody turned in more than 52.
I think that when mitch finished watering the track everybody started running on it right away. when bonzi finished with one of his first runs his tires were clogged with dirt looking like talcum powder. he did a great job getting it close to right and 3 in the A aint so bad.

Yeah, running the pack across the back gives the car too much rear percentage. You need to have more nose weight-
If you get too much rear percentage, the car will push on entry, then once it starts to rotate, you have all that weight back there acting like a pendulum-making it wanting to continue to rotate.
In short, it will normally push on entry, get wicked loose from center off but now there's no LF weight, so when you go to countersteer, it feels unresponsive at first-then takes off for the wall.
Pretty ugly scenario...
