Not knowing any better I left some gas in the tank of my 5hp rototiller for over a year. The gas eventually evaporated and left a sitcky mess inside the tank. Any suggestions on how to clean it? I've tried cleaning it with new gas, but it is still sticky.

Spray some carburetor cleaner in it and slosh it around, should get most of it out. May take nearly a whole can of cleaner though.

on my 2hp 4 cylce i took the tank off and put a few small stones in the tank along with some paint thiner sloshed it around for a bit then rinsed it with water and let dry in the sun for a few hours along with spraying air into it. got rid of rust and gunk build up.
