Since in the introduction of the 1/64 Greenlight diecast replicas in 2006…these guys have seemed to have pulled off the impossible. The quality of these replicas surpasses anything available today including IMHO Johnny Lightnings which until Greenlight…dominated the 1/64 replica segment. The distribution albeit limited is now available at major retail outlets as well as the Hobby Shops and Online. The gap line of the opening hood is a very tight and the engine compartment features a very well detailed and accurate motor. Amazing…!

jedimario 08-13-2007, 11:36 PM I've seen these around...just ahven't been able to pull the trigger. The look great though. If they'd branch out from muscle cars that would be awesome.
jedimario 08-13-2007, 11:39 PM Now that the pics have loaded I'd definitly pick up that blue Charger if I saw it!

My guess ( and I am not even qualified to have one) is that won't be straying far from home right now. Muscle cars are still selling, and you have to have a market. So I would bet for the next while, it's all MCG.
They do have one niche market already, and that is Indy cars (race and pace). I would not want two speciality segments to build my business on at the start.
And I wonder how well the larger scale is doing on top of that. The 1:18 does not seem to pull as well as I would have thought, at least it does not cause the roar that the 1:64 does. And I base that on the fact that I can always find them so cheap in a wide variety of places like Ebay, flea markets, Toy Liquidators, etc. So the larger scale may not do as well as the smaller anyway.
My guess is the 1:64 MCG is making money....
jedimario 08-14-2007, 10:21 AM True. But there is plenty of interest in other areas. Look at the reaction to Hot Wheel's Ferrari 250LM. I don't think there's a sinlge person on this site that said they didn't like it. Same with the VW GTI and several other models from Matchbox. The base of the die-cast market likes other stuff for the most part, and judging from my local Matchbox pegs, they'll buy other stuff.
And we're ovbiously willing to spend what Greenlight charges, I know I would be if they came out with a 1:64 GTI, Lamborghini, Porsche, or any number of other things if they were of the same caliber.

I have to agree with you Roy. These guys seem to get better with every release. It's a clear cut case of the manufacturer listening to the constructive criticism of the collectors and responding in a very positive way. These latest offerings are nothing short of amazing for the scale.
