I am from the old school, I want to do some 50's diecast cars 1:24 scale. Has anyone ever made fender skirts? What would be the best material to make fender skirts out of and how to mount them.

Thanks to all

I've made them out of thin sheet metal.
That way you can bend it to fit the curve of the body.
Also with a pair of pliars, you can form the lip/flair at the bottom edge.
Hope this helps!

Thats the way i was going to suggest. Using thin metal is probably the best way. It's easley formed, easy to paint, and looks great when finished. Best to just use a few different pair of pliars, and just keep bending till you get the right shape.

what i did was put tape behind the wheel well and across edge of body to form up a square.then made up some bondo and fill in the opening. when dry you can shape the contour you want.

I usually use 40 guage copper foil to form up metal panels. Its plyable which has its up side and down. You've got to be careful handling it or it'll bend. But you can also add high crowns and lipped edges. The only skirts I've made were on the first Longnose Saloon.

The whole back end of the Marmon Wasp was made from copper foil.
