View Full Version : What tracks in SW PA?
highster 08-07-2007, 02:38 PM Can you all help me out? I'm wondering what tracks are lefty operating in the southwestern PA area. I know there had been a few in the past such as:
RC Ave. in Latrobe
The raceway in beaver
Aaron's in Washington
Steel City in Bridgeville
Fulton's in Wheeling
Are there any new ones, or any of these still running?
I know RC Ave. has closed it's doors effective 8-5-2007, but wat else is left for a guy getting back into the hobby?
Thanks,
Tom
DKress47 08-07-2007, 03:04 PM Steel city is still around and putting down a new tri oval track on a subfloor. And Beaver is pretty much road course from what I hear due to a lack of interest in oval. I recommend giving steel city a try

I was never a big fan of that track, maybe the new one will be better.
BRhodes 08-07-2007, 07:02 PM The new track at Steel City will be top notch. RC Avenue did run last winter but had mostly monster trucks from what I heard. I believe Fulton's in Wheeling ran last winter too. There is also an oval track in Altoona and some PA people go to Akron Ohio to race at Freddies or Classic Hobbies. What class are you planning to run? I got back into it last winter after being out for 8 yrs so anything I can do to help let me know. Bob

OOPS! I think you missed one or two- THE RACEWAY in Beaver, now entering it's 11th year of operation. Dave Kress was right for the near future- no oval, but if there is enough sincere interest.............
Also, there may be some new interest in the Latrobe track, and (perhaps) alot more oval racing as well- besides the awesome turnout of truckers....

From what I read on another forum, the closed the doors on Aug. 5th for good. Past that I'm not sure what is going to happen.
jsrocket13 08-08-2007, 01:20 PM Fulton's will be opening after the NNCS race at Lowe's. I'm going there in a little while to get everything ironed out for all the classes this year we will be dropping a few and adding some.
Iwill always try to keep everyone posted Jimmy.

RC Alley Digger 09-16-2007, 10:47 PM The track in Bradenville, PA is OPEN!
The previous owners decided to close their business, but I just couldn't let the doors close on what has been my second home for many years. So while RC Avenue Raceway might be closed now, RC Alley Raceway is OPEN! The track is open every Wednesday night for practice from 5PM to 8:30PM(cost is $2/hour or $5 for the whole night) and racing will be every Friday night. The doors open on Fridays at 5:30PM and I try to start racing by 7:30PM. We run till we're done. Registration is the same as before, $10 for the first vehicle entry and $5 for each vehicle entry after that. I will run any class that has 3 or more entries for it(2 or more if it's a slow night! LOL!). For any that don't know about this track, it's indoor carpet flat oval, 40x80', convertable to road course in minutes and automatic lap counting. There is plenty of pit space with electrical outlets and a snack bar with pop and candy(soon to be more).
While there is a strong truck following at the track, there is also plenty of oval support, too. Lately there has even been a few electric helicopters showing up on practice nights. The track is a perfect place to practice with your chopper; there's plenty of room and no wind at all! If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to email me. Email in my profile! Thanks!
