Starship Farragut's first (and pilot) episode, "The Captaincy", was released in February, 2007. It is available for download at http://starshipfarragut.com.

Here is a copy of the episode poster:

Our second episode, "For Want of a Nail" has completed principle photography and is in post-production. The first trailer for the episode was released just a couple of weeks ago. The episode itself is scheduled to be released on 10 October, 2007.

Here's the poster for "For Want of a Nail":

A vignette called "Just Passing Through" will be filmed this month with a release date as yet to be determined.

We are kicking off pre-production on our third episode, "Fathers and Sons" this week with the beginning of construction on a full scale interior mock-up of a Class "F" shuttlecraft. We hope to post progress photos of the project as we go along.

Drop on by the Starship Farragut web site (http://starshipfarragut.com), or join in on the discussions in our forum (http://starshipfarragut.com/forum).

Yeah, I'm not fond of registering either.

I sincerely hope you guys the best but I don't see the point of having everyone register.

Man, I can't believe how picky some folks get over registering at a site....

As to the password thing, just use the same password - or variation on a theme of passwords. I use the same username and simple variation on most forums I visit irregularly. Here at HT, at SM, StarshipBuilder.com and one or two others are all simple to remember variations.

Anyhow, the reason they likely require registration is to keep SPAMMERS from posting to their forums. For some software that's the only way to keep people from posting anonymously. Not the perfect solution, but one that is sometimes forced to be used for that very reason due to software limitations.

Obviously, there might be other reasons, but that's one I've seen used - and had to use at one site I'm an Admin at - in order to keep the SPAM to a Nil.

I sincerely hope you guys the best but I don't see the point of having everyone register. Thanks for the well wishes ...Although there are several administrative reasons, the main reason is just as Griff suggested; To protect our members from web spiders, harvesters and spambots. There are many other forums that do this as well. Ours is not the first to require registration, nor will it be the last.

We also do this, not only for our own convenience, but for those interested in our project as well. Our people are members of several forums each and we put the word out on what we're doing in all of them. I'm a member in over 20 forums myself. We invite everyone to come and see what we're doing, give us feedback and ask questions. We don't have the time to go to each and every one of them, every day, and answer comments and questions, much less answer the same questions 20 times over. If we did, we'd never have time to build these things much less make movies with them ... and Lord forbid we miss one of them and be accused of not following up or answering valid questions about our project.

This way, you, as an interested party, have one place to go to see what we're doing, give feedback and ask your questions about Starship Farragut ... and we have one place to go to see what you have to say and answer your questions. That is precisely why we have our own forum in the first place.

All I can say is that I respect your decisions. I hope that you can respect our decision concerning how we run our forum. I also hope that in time you'll reconsider and join the party. The invitation will always be there.

Okay, I understand registration for a forum, that's a given; but why the need to register just to view a video?

I can understand the security reasons for forums. And pershaps I should have acknowledged that and been more specific. I guess the real point is like what john says about just viewing something. Perhaps its a little silly, but I need to get a little emotionally invested in something before I spend the 5 minutes that registration takes.

I followed one of their links to "Star Trek: The New Voyages" (BTW: George Takei & Walter Koenig guest in the first few eps) and I was able to download and burn DVDs of the finished Eps with NO registration.

Takes a bit of time getting used to other actors playing Kirk, Spock etc. but all in all, very nicely done & the FX are impressive.

I haven't seen any Farragut yetBut between New Voyages and Exeter, I prefer Exeter.
The TOS charactors are HUGE shoes to fill and it will take some really good actors to fill them, so I prefer the approach taken by Exeter and Farragut.
That makes the charactors simply more believable.

There are plenty of ships, charactors and stories out there. New Voyages approach kind of shows a lack of imagination.

Please allow me to clarify ... There is no need to register to view or download Starship Farragut episodes or trailers. They are openly available through the "Episode Downloads" page on our main site at starshipfarragut.com (http://starshipfarragut.com).

There are no videos posted in our forums ... only the still shots of the progress we've made thus far in the construction of our full scale Class "F" shuttle interior set. In the next few days we'll also be posting pics of some of the props that will be used in a vignette that we'll be filming later this week.

Only our forum requires registration. We do this because if anyone can view the forum and get information (which is usually a good thing) ... Web crawlers, web spiders and harvester programs can also view and retrieve that information for malicious purposes (which is NOT a good thing).

I hope this clears up any confusion.

Oh, well, that's perfectly understandable then.
Never mind. :)

Just had a chance to watch New Voyages episode "In Harm's Way"...I'm not a die-hard Trek fan by any stretch, but I was very very impressed. Excellent story that touches back to some key points from TOS (Doomsday Machine, Christopher Pike) and even ties into TMP era. Well done all the way around!

I'm not a big fan of Star Trek myself, but, I passed this link to some of my friends and coworkers that are Star Trek fans. They got excited about it. But, I haven't gotten any feedback from them, yet.

Just watched the trailer for the second episode! It's fine, and I look forward to seeing the rest of it. But my daughter's comment was great. As soon as the landing party raised their hands in surrender, she said, "Why are they raising their hands? Captain Kirk would never do that!" She obviously has quite the impression of the Captain of the Enterprise!

Kirk surrendered TWICE in the movies. Of course it was a tactical surrender each time....
