Not much of a NASCAR oval or tri-oval fan, but I watched the qualifying up at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Quebec, and THAT kind of racing I can get behind. Interesting watching the drivers try to slide and muscle their way through this kind of course. Didn't get bored after just a couple laps. Must be the same with Lyme Rock and Watkins Glen style road courses. Kinda parallels what I like in a slot car course. Not a bad watch at all. nd

Hey Dave, you're right. The cars are heavy, way heavier than tubed road race cars, not overly blessed with contact patch, and with the suspension set up they slide all over the place too. Long braking distances required, makes for entertaining racing and a display of true driving skill.
And, from what I read in the paper this morning, Ol' Mike "Helmet" and crew made another "judgement" call - funny how the NCup regular wins the race, eh?

I always liked the idea of NASCAR on a road course. "Go fast, turn left" is kinda like counting sheep for me.

Re Saturday's Busch race : I listened to the regional NASCAR analyst today, does state/regional radio shows, and what they did to Robby Gordon, changing the story about the yellow after the fact, ignoring the admission of the driver who spun him under yellow who readily admitted he didn't see it, and not following their own rules on that situation (spun driver resumes his position). Then saying he ignored the black flag during the last 2 laps when you have two laps to comply.... Robby had the rulebook in hand, it didn't matter, he was suspended from the next race in A DIFFERENT SERIES. whoa.... Be thankful you don't work for people like this.

ND,
Will have to agree, not much into the round tracks, but I sure do like it when NASCAR hits the road courses. Just wished they'd have more races on those and add a couple at night. OFD
