Congrats to Mike and Kim on your new business venture. I am glad to hear that you will be saving the historic high banks. With so many changes in our hobby during the last couple of years, it is comforting to know that you can always count on Stafford Springs' Turn 4 RC to be there.

It would be nice to see the WinterBlast come back to its glory days and maybe see a National Event soon (last Nationals were 10 years ago).

Mike and Kim, you can always count on your Canadian friends north of the border to support you.

Wishing you the very best,
Antonio De Nino

Excellent news, I can't wait to get back to racing on the high banks. I like the new name and I'm glad to see that it lets folks know that it's a hobbyshop as well as having the track. Best of luck to you on your new venture, see you soon.

Just follow the yellow brick road. It leads to the high banks in Stafford Springs.

Did somebody say ice cream??? I'm soooo there!! Oh yeah, I have to be there now don't I!? LOL! FYI - I did find an ice cream scoop while I was cleaning!!! Didn't find any yellow brick road or munchkins though...for munchkins ya gotta stop at Dunkins!!
P.S. Cake is a great idea!! Thanks Rick & Michelle (and RSE)!

We really hope everyone will be pleased with the visual changes we'll be making! Not so much dramatic changes, but definitely functional ones! We even found some OLD video tapes while we were cleaning of when Karen & Nick owned the place. We got some great ideas (and great laughs) from watching those this morning.

I would love to have a brushless class fro the Stockified race.

As for the WinterBlast, Mike, I think that you will have to reconsider your date. The proposed date is much to near to the Snowbirds. I am not busting balls but I do believe that racers that attend the Snowbirds will not attend the Winterblast on a few weeks earlier, myself included. It is way too much effort for 2 completely different racetracks in so little time. I guess something to think about....?

my 2 cents,
Antonio

Thanks everyone for stopping in and saying hello last night! Great cake AND Ice Cream! Thanks Rick and Bob!
We have done a lot but there is still a lot more to do! Bare with us as we get the ball, or should I say the wheels, rolling! We DID get the phone hooked up last night. :) Our new number is...

860-684-4500.

We will hopefully have the DSL up and running this weekend as well. Remember folks, that is a track number and not a cell number. There is an answering machine so you can always leave a message if we don't answer!

Looking forward to a great season coming up!! Hope we can please everyone as much as we pleased Bob by opening the doors again! He really was as happy as a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz!! LOL!

Wireless internet access at the track is a good thing.. Down the road maybe even a web cam so racers that can't make it can watch the action.. It's a very big plus to have a modern race track.

Keep up the good work guys (and gals).

Ahh, web cam...it's on the "big ideas" list!! Currently we have the "Need NOW", "Ideas", and "Big Ideas" lists. The "needs" list will get done by Stockified...the Ideas list has a goal set for Winterblast 19 (thats this year, Jan. '08), and the Big Ideas has a goal set for Winterblast 20 (2009)!

I think a 17.5 brushless class would fit K/N better then a 13.5 class. The extra speed of the 13.5 will be two to three laps faster then stock. Where the 17.5 will be slightly slower and allow budget racer to have a class along with the less newer racers. Leave a brushed stock class and 17.5 IMO.

Kim and Mike let me know about the open race dates I sent you for the NEOT. Thanks Mike V

I'm not sure where K/N is , but we did some 13.5 testing this weekend at Turn4 R/C and it works great on the banks. The torque out of the turn is impressive..

I really don't think that price is that much of an issue in the SK Pro class. Almost everyone running SK's in the classes we run seem to have about $500.00 wrapped up in the cars anyways.

Just my .02

I had posted on the rkr thread I think there is always going to be a brushed class for the simple fact people are not going to change over for many reasons, alot of us have already agreed on starting a class of the 13.5. my home track we have decided on the 13.5 class and talked to mike at turn 4 about getting that class offered and he is all for it. like the 19t sk class, 13.5 is an option and alot are already for it. options is all.

MIKE VALENTINE
08-13-2007, 03:43 PM
I think your going to find the 13.5 class to fast for SK and alot of the smaller tracks we run on.

omnis85
08-13-2007, 05:50 PM
i thought the same mike but honestly its just the right speed IMO, not blistering fast but it didnt drop off like a brush motor either, we do 150 lap mains and the car just kept going the same speed, i asked the racer to see how much run time was still in the batts after the race, I think it was 40 some odd seconds after a 9min run with a crash or 2. our track is small compared to most and def a good test site for stuff. I guess we will have to see where it takes this whole deal. bad and good IMO.

Turn4RC
08-13-2007, 05:51 PM
OK, well so far we've got 3 opinions...anybody else??? We love to hear comments and opinions!

Also, we wouldn't replace the brushed class with brushless...we would just offer an added brushless class if there were enough racers interested in racing it. I think the demand for it is out there.
