What would you guys do if you found someone who wanted to get rid of some diecast cars he has collected but doesn't really know what he has. The cars are loose and carded all in good to mint shape differant manufactures(HW,JL, MB, ect) 2000 back to the 70's from what he can remember. but wants to sell them all at one time but you can't see them but have to make an offer going only on the amount he has and what he remembers are in the boxes?

I'd give him a low ball offer Bill, without seeing them you cannot value them. I'd want an excat count too. Offer him $100 - $200 site unseen, if he has 200 cars you can't go wrong there. Heck I'll offer him that.

That's a tough task Bill. How about offering him .75 to $1 a car and when you see them you could adjust the price from there.
And don't pay him until you have the cars in hand!

For MB, HW offer him half a buck ea. For JL's 1 buck?

Thanks Guys, For all your help:thumbsup: I think I am going to tell him I have to see the cars and get the correct total number of cars before I make my final offer but will give him an estimate up front.
Thanks again, you guys are the best bunch of people out there:wave:

That's a very tough question to answer. Try to get an approximate number of cars in the collection. Be aware many of the cars could be from 1997-2000, and not many of these will sell for $1.00. Sure there may be older blue cards, but how many blue cards? I was going to sell 5000 Hot Wheels that are all carded and in near mint condition from 1995-2003. I was offered $1000 (25 cents each), and I think the person wanted me to deliver them. I was only trying to make room, and the cars aren't doing me any good packed away in cartons. I can easily part with 5000 Hot Wheels and still have a nice collection that I still couldn't display.
Many new collectors think the current Hot Wheels will be an investment. Most likely they will loose 50%-75% of the money that they paid for them, not to mention the time, gas expense, and aggravation involved.
Buy with makes you happy. Good luck with buying the collection!............STUTZ
