I just got a 1/24 Team Caliber in the mail (cheap from e-baby) and man oh man, it smells like an ashtray. This guy didnt advertise it as "smoke free", so I'm not trippin, but man, you can smell it from 5 feet away!

So, does anybody know any home remedies to get the smoke out of this thing. Do I park it in the yard with the dog? Smear it with cologne? Bathe it? Marinate it in BBQ sauce overnight? What works?

I feel your pain. I bought a lot of 50 or so cars a few months ago and I could smell em BEFORE I opened the box. I emaield the guy to let him knwo and he was very apologetic and said he'd take special care from there on in handeling cars . I just took them and laid them out on a rug witha fan for a little while then flipped them. Then febreeze and or vacuum the rug. they arent bad at all now.

What I did is I used Febreeze a lot and used a little bit of soap water(not too much soap, and the good smellin soap) and rubbed it on there. I then used some strong(not too strong) perfume and sprayed some on the package. Now it smells like a clean T-shirt!

Hey, thanks for the good word. I tried it, soap, Febreeze and all, and it seems to be working just fine. It smells better already! Maybe a few more hours of it, and I can let it stay with my other diecasts....
THANKS AGAIN

If it's anything like when my neighbors cat took a dump in my car, it will take months to get the smell out. I had left the car window down overnight and it crapped on the carpet.
