IN2RACIN 07-30-2007, 06:04 PM How does your "local" track do there points? Such as, length, rain outs, drops, make ups, and point structure. jbell31 07-31-2007, 06:12 AM GLQSR Great Lakes Quarter Scale Racers Each year around February we have a meeting and set the race dates and how many races. We try to set the points races up around the QSAC schedule so they do not conflict, this way most of our racers are free to attend these national events at other tracks. For 2007: Points are awarded as follows: 1st-200, 2nd-196, 3rd-192, 4th-188, 5th-184, 6th-180, 7th-176, 8th-172, 9th-168, 10th-164, etc... -4 Best 6 of 9 races, no throw out for rain or disqualification. NO TOW POINTS. willyplankhead 08-01-2007, 10:44 PM lagoon park raceway montgomery,AL 16 races 3 throw outs 1st place 200 points decrease by 5 for the rest of positions we recently voted on show up points for those that make the trip and it gets rained out some have 3 hour drive need to make it worth while for everyone no matter how far they live fish4check 08-02-2007, 09:00 PM Here at Timberline Raceway we actually use Nascar Points format. We use bonus point's too,5-for leading a lap and 5-for leading most laps. We also have 2 throw-outs for the year. IHAUL 08-07-2007, 06:36 PM if you don't use the right points you woun't have many racers at the end of the season. keep the points close so some people still have a chance if something happens ( someone braking or not making a race ) the points are a good idea just don't discourage the ones who help setup and help in other ways. Plz explain more. dangerousdave 08-08-2007, 12:47 PM We have a points system at the track I race at. I don't know how it works and I don't care about points. I go to race and have "FUN" points just seem to take away from the fun. Some guys race for points and points alone, I race to have fun and see if I can improve our car on a weekly basis. We don't get to the track to race every week so that is another reason points don't mean anything to me. I race full size cars also, tracks use a points system for two things as far as I can tell. The first is to have some sore of champion. The second is to keep drivers at there track by giving money for points at the end of the year(but you need to race 75-80 percent of the races at said track) to get that money. I enjoy racing with or without a points system. Dave Dygon IN2RACIN 08-08-2007, 01:34 PM We have a points system at the track I race at. I don't know how it works and I don't care about points. I can see not being interested in points if you do not race every week...... What kind of full size car do you race? where? dangerousdave 08-08-2007, 01:47 PM What track are you talking about? Maybe they can answer this...? I can see not being interested in points if you do not race every week...... What kind of full size car do you race? where? We race 1/4 scale at MPR... I really don't care about points at any track or any type of racing!!!... We race a 2004 Monte Carlo Limted Late Model at several tracks in Wisconsin!!!... DD LetsRace 08-08-2007, 02:13 PM whats good about a points system is: 1. it helps with the car count every week from an track owner point of view. you can't miss too many races if you'd like to win the season points championship. 2. can make for some better racing instead of hack fest because someone is driving a 3 or 5 place car and trying to drive and win like it is a 1st place car. some days your car just isn't as good as other days and with points racing, you take the 2nd or 3rd and points that go with it instead of the last place points because you tryed to drive the car faster then what it is and either wrecked out (and others with you) or had to go to back of field repeatedly (a take others with you). 3 . it gives 1/4 something more then just showing up to race your car that day. something you don't get in 1/10. just like qualifiy result in the heats based on finish poistion instead of pure speed to set mains. 4. gives those guys that just can't seem to bring it home and get the win but are very consistent and always up front , something to race for and get some recognishtion for ,besides winning races. i like a points system for all those reasons. i don't pay much attention to it when i know i can't make as many races as i would like to in a season though. but i would race for points if i knew i could race as much as i would like to. Racing for points doesn't mean your not trying to win either. Just means you drive smarter when you see that its going to take an act of god for you to get a win that day. IN2RACIN 10-04-2007, 03:07 PM Do you (the racer) like one point season, or two? or none? and why? What about rain outs? How about drops? Lets hear it. Tim Mc 10-04-2007, 03:58 PM Yes, I like the points even though I do not run for the championship. I have in the past and won! I like to see at least two halves. It gives a new racer the opportunity to get in the point race even if coming in mid season and a racer that has a tough first half the chance to be there in the second. The drops in my opinion should be actual raced days. Throw out of one missed day would be acceptable in my opinion. Once again this is my opinion only. Our track works off of a majority vote on everything. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
